Back again

Post by hammerman »

Hi all, long time no see.Well,i`ve still got my 2003 110 SE estate. Now has 168k miles, still on the original clutch & dmf, still towing our caravan, still running sweet as a nut.Getting just over 700 miles to a full tank on mixed driving.
On the downsides, rusty bonnet is slowly falling to bits although i did a temp cut & fill job & it looks better but rust is starting to come through again. The cooling fan motor/bearing is on its way out,but mine has 5 wires so finding one is hard.Drivers seat frame broke the other day on the front corner.I`ve done a temp fix but will try to get it welded at my firms workshop.Just put some Led bulbs in the front side lights & number plate lights.Very nice bright pure white, really makes a difference.Just replaced the rear chrome trim on the tail gate that was all broken & water damaged.£50 from stealers  ,& i got mine free from the scrappy :D
Need to replace my rear brakes for the up coming mot,& try & get some sort of hand brake back
The drilled & grooved front discs i fitted a year ago were the best £55 i`ve spent. No sign of warping or over heating as ALL my old sets did.
So over all,not nuch to report.Will be posting a few Q`s anyway. :) :)

Well, new front & rear number plates fitted(£12.50 the pair,GB with a border, ebay)new rear discs, handbrake shoes & springs,£28 pair of discs,£28 handbrake shoes & spring kit, ebay)and just fitted 2 new door mirrors,so i now have working heated mirrors.£20 pair ebay)All much cheaper on ebay than the usual car parts places.
There was nothing left of the handbrake shoes  Glad the bits did`nt take out the abs.Now have a good handbrake again, well,as good as it gets on the 406   Just need 2 front tyres & hopefully it will pass the mot 2 weeks today.
Got a slight engine hesitation now though.About once a week i pullaway from traffic lights,or boot it in any gear & its like the caravan has been put on the back for a second or 2,then it flys.Apart from that it runs & drives great,so i spose i will have to wait untill it gets worse.
