Lift pump problems

Hi guys,

Last Friday i parked my car in friends driveway, went to leave about 2 hours later and car wouldn't start,
It was running fine before this with no signs of it about to stop working.

When turning on the ignition I noticed the pump in the tank was not coming on, I removed the rear seat
and put a test lamp on the wires connected to the top of the pump.
There are 4 wires, blue,yellow,white and another yellow, when tested with the ignition on
the only one that had power going to it was the blue, should there be power at any of the others.

I've used the search function on this site trying to find a diagram of the engine bay fuses but had no luck,
I found a list of the fuses and I think the pump fuse was F12 but which one is F12

I will take the filter out tomorrow and see if there is any filings in there, I changed the filter about 1500miles
ago and it was fine then.

If it is just the pump thats failed it should be an easy fix but I don't want to just replace the pump without
checking out the power supply to it first.

Any help would be appreciated.

Forgot to mention the car is an X reg HDI 90 and I think the pump is a Bosch

Check all the fuses, (inertia switch) Relay etc
id do that before buying a lift-pump,

icarnt see how its failed just like that after being parked up acouple of hours, a lift pump shouid give off sighns of failing before totaly giving up
ishouid of thought,

Have you tried giving the base of the fuel tank a thump with palm of your hand to see if it springs the lift pump into life?

What and where is the Inertia switch?

I have a Haynes manual, I'll have a look in there but I've never found them that useful

F12 is the bottom row, end fuse nearest to drivers door (R/h) But thats showing up as Stop lamp on Auto data,

the fuse you want is under the bonnet,

its the one shaded red in the png image above,

Just a thought - one that age probably also has the brown double-relay gubbins, half of which is for the fuel pump IIRC.

(Definitely check the fuse out first though).

When I am there tomorrow I will check the fuse and that switch thingy up near the bonnet hinge

Of the 4 wire in the connector block on the pump do you know which ones operate the
pump and what ones operate the fuel gauge.
