I need some fire rated lighting for my kitchen and i hadn't thought of screw fix you've just given me an idea cheers.

My local Tesco has signs up in the Crap Park about a 'maximum stay' I've never really studied it but will now - for the benefit of the Forum

So does mine, it's 2 hours, which is plenty of time to go to town and to Tesco

aye I'd have saved myself £2 in parking yesterday if i had known my tribunal would only last less than an hour £2 2 fooking quid can you believe it's now £15 a week to park in Merthyr? There's no wonder people park in Tesco.
Cheeky bastards robbing people like that and all without a gun.

Thanks to those who said, hello, and hello back, hope everyone is doing well.
Im at uni now, the car isnt being used an awful lot at the moment, i have been away from the computer, a quick 10 minuite look at emails and the news turns into 3 hours of not doing work all too easily.

I chickened out with the parking ticket, i just dont want any trouble, paid it last night before it became the more expensive price after 14 days.

When i went to drive the car home today i thought the brakes were seized, a weird scraping and clunking sound as i drove off, i went over a ramp and going down it, there was an unusual thud, the noise got worse, i parked the car and the drivers side was much lower to the ground, the spring has snapped:

Plus a few bits of what look like spring.

So i phoned my dad and he come up on the hilux with the cousins car transporter, the car managed to crawl itself on, its been left with a mechanic who says it isnt a big job, but looking at the car on the trailer it appears the CV boot has been split, the clip holidng it fell off when driving off the trailer.

This is only a month after the car passed the MOT test, two days after which the crankshaft pulley started making a weird noise, although a new pulley solved that.

Lots of cars break road springs, it's not just Pugs.

Please get the strut top bearings checked while you/they're at it - about £20 a side and if the spring's already off, very little additional effort.

Will do, should i get both front springs replaced now? Id be worried about the other spring letting go while driving on the motorway, it could bust a tyre.

As for the other news, my dad sold the nissan primera got £1500 even with the LPG system still in it, some taxi driver bought it and ive seen it a few times on the road with the taxi sign on the roof.
It was replaced by 2008 Honda civic 1.4 he planned to convert it but he didnt like the rattles in the dash, and it was woefully underpowered, it couldnt even overtake tractors safely, it was also bumpy and not very well insualted from wind or road noise. The only good points was that it handled very tidy, no roll at all in corners and the seats were comfortable, and the electric windows were fast.

It was sold, and i saw a kia ceed when in belfast, test drove it for him and thats what was bought a 2011 Kia Ceed 2 1.6 diesel with 5500 miles, for £8700, through the charles hurst dealer so it still has the 7 year warranty minus about a year.




Its a great car, it has all thats needed on a car and everything works well, the gearchange is slick, the steering nicely weighted, its quiet, the seats are a bit firm but supportive, and there is plenty of space, its a 1.6 113bhp which moves along nicely even at motorway speeds in 6th gear it has plenty of torque for overtaking. The fuel economy so far has been 55mpg on average (67 is claimed), road tax is only £30 a year.

It's not the fact the spring breaks, it's the design, which "can" allow the spring to shoot down the strut, and is in no way captured
I know when both the front ones went on mine (in 2 different instances) it wasn't just a case of the car sitting a bit lower, it was the fact, the tyre was resting on the wheel arch liner, it was that low

Ah, point taken, although I've never really understood just how it can miss the bottom seat and end up embedded in the driveshaft/steering/tyre. Still, no doubt I'll end up experiencing the problem first hand

I'm starting to get a sense of deja vu here, we must have discussed this before. Hmm, can't find owt so maybe it's something I've read on another forum about a similar problem

Anyway, I guess what it would need is a bigger seat and then there's the trade-off with it holding more corrosive crud against the spring, encouraging it to fail earlier.

I always clean mine out by shining the hose into the bottom seat, I also dosed it with Waxoyl a few summers ago.
