You may all remember a little while ago i posted a question regarding my clutch slipping and also a whirring noise presant which went when the clutch was depressed.
Well i had my local garage fit a replacement valeo cluth but nothing is never easy.
They put the whiring down to a rough release bearing, but i still have another noise.
Basically the whirring i had before always went when the car warmed up and it was always only slight.
Now since the clutch was replaced i have a noticable 'whine sort of whiring noise' this goes with the slightest pressure put on the clutch pedal or when it is depressed. It is also a lot more noticable in that i can hear it when in the car now. The garage obviously says its the box but my point is this noise was not there when the clutch was replaced. The gaerbox its self has no problems or noises although does seem more notchy although this again is since the clutch was replaced. Does any one think it may be worth checking the gearbox oil? if so how do you do it. Also when the box was removed there was no oil leaks etc, and they say that the reason my clutch failed beofre was due to the release bearing damaging the pressure plate?.
The car has done 127k, Y reg and is a 90 bhp.

rattle / whiring noise which goes when the clutch is depressed could be the gearbox input shaft/bearing. What happens to the noise if you increase the engine speed?
If it is the shaft/bearing it may take out the input shaft oil seal, which then may leak oil on to your clutch. I don't think the shaft, bearing or seal are to expensive, but it is a gear box off job so there will be a lot of labor.
