fuel gauge 03 plate 2.0hdi 110

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

fuel gauge 03 plate 2.0hdi 110

Post by deanthedude1977 »

Hi all

During the week i noticed that i had approx 1/4 of a tank of diesel..the temp range on the mfd showed that to be correct cant remember what mileage it said i had left but it looked right 120 or something like that...anyway....

After returning to the car hour later i noticed fuel gauge had jumped to 3/4 and the mfd display showing range had too jumped accordingly showing i now had something like 360 miles of fuel left(thats a gues by the way might of been 400)...

After reading various post and threads about this and even thinking about doing a BSI reset i decided to go and fill her up as suggested by others and it worked--the gauge and display both read as they should..

When the problem happened i had car parked downhill--not sure if this was why and something got stuck but thats when it happened..

So if anyone else gets grief with their gauge try filling up before thinking about pump changes, BSI resets etc.. :)

Thanks Lozz

i guessed they weren,t great but to go from 1/4 to 3/4 is half a tank difference and it didnt matter how many times i turned engine on and off it stayed the same--seemed a bit too much to be dodgy fuel gauge??
