Slugs can get in at the slightest hole, there spineless so can get in gaps you wouidnt think of,
there horrible slimy things ihate them there like snot , Hedgehogs will eat them, adopt a hedgehog

I have a mate back in the UK who'se a big of an organic farmer (has qualifications for it). On his allotment he made a small pond to attract frogs and toads and they eat the slugs. The bods that run the allotments weren't exactly pleased to start off with but, once he'd explained what it was about, they changed the rules so everyone can have a small pond.

Those pheromone mouse traps are supposed to be good, I don't know because I usually have to go after them with a fly swat. I do know the spring traps aren't much good, my own experience is bruised fingers and mice can eat the food off of them without setting them off anyway.

Glue Boards.
I had a rat problem, climbed up inside of rainwater downpipe that were joined to the stormwater drains, and underneath the eaves and into the attic, they then went down the wall cavity and underneath the floorboards. The local ratman gave me a couple of glue boards, I think they have pheromones in them, to put underneath the floorboards. When vermin walk over it they get stuck, you then simply retrieve the glueboard which have to be checked daily and crush their skulls with a piece of wood. These things are very, very sticky,I had to use pliers to peel the rat off the board. They are reusable too, peel off vermin and put the board back to catch the next one.
Downpipes have now got plantpots inserted into them and haven't had a visitor since.

They sell mouse glue here, no pheromones so the idea is you put a circle of glue around a bit of food. It does work, we caught a few with it, but as mentioned for the rats, you have to dispatch the little darlings yourself. I've stopped using it anyway because the last time I used it I caught a cat Vet's, tranquilliser, petrol, teeth, more tranquilliser, more teeth, even more tranquilliser...

I've got a 'Tomcat' mouse trap kit in my Office and that works really well, it has a green 'goo' that attracts the mice and then it snaps shut as soon as they step on/in the trap.

Regarding slugs; a small plate (or shallow bowl) left outside with a pool of Lager in it works the slugs are attracted to the Lager and slide over to have a look.......once in the plate they can't get out and die. I was recommended to try this and thought it was a wind up.....until I saw the plate in the morning

Stronger beers work best, I used Stella which I appeared to have lying around there was some left after filling the plate so I drank the rest, then I thought I'd better put a plate around the front of the house, then the side, then the other side

With slugs i found bleach works very well at keeping them away, and dealing with any that are already there.

Last night about 1am i was watching a movie in bed and heard a lot of noise coming from a plastic bag i had sitting on the floor, turned the torch on and out ran a mouse in under the bed, i drove out to the farm and brought the dog into the house, went to sleep and an hour must have passed to which i heard him growling and then he caught it.

Went into the attic this afternoon and found another one in the trap:


Me and my dad spent the past few hours in the attic with the yellow expanding foam closing any possible gaps, there is now 4 traps set and 2 glue traps as well as a rat trap outside.

We've got some of the little b@stards in the kitchen behind the washing machine; the boiler is under the worktop and they must have got in where the pipes run into the floor.
