I removed the vandalised lock barrel, the metal around it was rusty so i cut it out:

I bought some isopon, but just need to weld a plate in to fill the gap, should i weld it in flush, or weld a plate from behind onto the door then fill the outside with isopon, and will ispon stick ok to bare metal, is there any need to treat it?

You're not going to replace the lock?

I guess it depends how good your welding is, if I was doing it in my usual poor pigeon sh*t welding I'd probably go for the plate behind and fill it, remember if you put too much heat into it the panel will warp. Lob will bond to bare metal fine, providing it's not mirror smooth, you'll have to clean off all the crap from the welding though.

My cousin welds cars for a living so a tiny plate shouldnt be too much trouble for him, then ill use filler to cover up the hole.

There is a few wee rusty spots here and there, some door edges where people have rubbed against the door getting in and out, the roof just above the windscreen is the worst. No isopon will go to waste :cheesy:

I removed the front strut as i plan to buy a set of standard springs, the thing how do you measure the height of a spring, are there any particular refrence points where the distance is quoted?
Image
I just put the strut against the wall and measured the distance from the top to the bottom bolt hole i think it was about 23 inches.

Got them 2 areas sanded down and resprayed, the quality of the paint finish wont win a concourse but it looks better than rust:

I got fed up with isopon and painting, so i sorted out the rust above the windscreen with a quicker method :cheesy: :

I also replaced the front shocks and springs, and the rear springs, going back to standard added 3 inches of ground clearance:
