I doubt it - on both counts. Check the bid history & you'll see that the newly registered winning bidder had earlier retracted a £3000 - probably just to find out the next guy's highest bid. I reckon it'll be relisted in a couple of weeks with some bull about no contact blah blah at the top.Doggy wrote:So it made £2567 - anyone know of it's a genuine sale?
Will we be hearing from the new owner??

Re: nice car
Quite rare, but ok if you get a good one. Think the 2.2 DTi is the one that gave the DTi engine the bad reputation for fuel pumps, but overall they're not too bad. Omega bodywork isn't great though as I've seen quite a few with rust scabs here & there, but I reckon if you find a decent high spec 2.2 DTi estate & keep it tidy & up-together it won't lose much money over the years as I reckon it'll gain the same almost-classic status as the 24v Senators did.rapport25 wrote:Dodgy bidding!!!

Omegas are the last rear wheel drive mainstream Vauxhalls & whereas the 24v Senator was the one to have in the 90s (& collectible now) I reckon the 2.2DTi Omega will take up that mantle over the next few years while we're all trying to be frugal.

Isn't that a bit OTT?
I know it's an exec but really? 2.5k?
Did I mention I got my 2004 2.2hdi Executive for £700..??
Probably cos it was a pile of sh1te, cost another £500 to sort it out!! Still quite cheap in total as it is like a new car now with defap and lots of new parts.

Re: nice car
Agree with most of the sentiment there, but the 2.2 DTi Omega doesn't compare well against a 2.2 406. Critically, it lacks the power & torque to convincingly move the big/heavy GM chassis around. It's heavier/slower/thirstier and lacks the smoothness and refinement of the standard, DPF encumbered pug. Once this is removed, there's no comparison.waue1978 wrote:[Quite rare, but ok if you get a good one. Bear in mind I absolutely abhor the atrocity of FWD - even allowing for that handicap, I would choose a 2.2 HDi 406 every time.
(BTW most Senators were rendered useless by slushmatic 'boxes, the proper boy's toy was a manual 24V Carlton).

Re: nice car
Taken a couple of 2.5TD Omegas out when I've been car shopping and found the enginer cracking. Ecspecially in Automatic form.
Not to good on fuel though.

Re: nice car
That's the BMW engine. The same one as was in my old 325tds & they're even better with a manual box & less weight.Bailes1992 wrote:Taken a couple of 2.5TD Omegas out when I've been car shopping and found the enginer cracking. Ecspecially in Automatic form.
