Re: MOT ...
It is a good feeling when that happens, it is always helpful to find a sensible MoT'er tho. Last year mine passed and then the guy wandered over and said one of my number plate bulbs wasn't working and to get if fixed, should have failed it but common sense prevailed. Needless to say I'm going back there this year

Re: MOT ...
Passed. Although I think I'd be rather offended if it failed, considering some of the junk I've seen them passsteve_earwig wrote:My D9's got it's MOT today (or local equivalent, my wallet will be on life support later). There's snow everywhere again, I would have liked to have left it but there's no guarantees the weather will be any better next week and if I take too long I have to hand the number plates in & then it could get complicated

Oh dear, I seem to have the whole lot on video

Re: MOT ...
It is a little bit sad when you're surprised your car passed with no advisories ...
Given all the truckloads of cash I've handed over in the last 3 months for getting the damned brakes fixed, I was certain they would have failed it for something else. I know one of my wheel bearings is on its way out, and I know the front suspension top-mount bearings are starting to make "bong!" noises when I'm steering. But no advisories at all makes me surprised and happy.

Re: MOT ...
I'm usually relieved. The thing is, unless you've had the car up in the air before you go for the mot, you don't know for certain that it's going to pass. There's always the possibility the tester will find something expensive/hard to fix and then you're left with a car that you can't legally drive and a problem to sort out in a hurry. It's not like hearing your drop links start to clatter again and thinking "I'll do that when the weather warms up", you suddenly have to do it right now, regardless of your spare time/health/the weather/emptiness of your wallet.
An mot could also be considered a test of the car's owner, I'm sure none of us on here don't give a toss about the Peugeots we drive (maybe certain Jap crap I could mention
) so a fail would mean we are failing in our duty to keep our cars in "tip top" shape.
Finally, there's always the thought that if the car passed without any advisories then maybe the tester had a hangover and/or couldn't be bothered and you're actually driving around in a death trap

Re: MOT ...
Purely for the hell of it, this should (hopefully...) be my MOT (or local equivalent) - I've added some titles and stuff to try and make it a tad less inexplicable. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZeNRt7Yo ... FqL1-E0sws
