They froze ours for 2012 maybe 2011 too but can't remember but this year it's back to a £2 per month rise.... £400 is just fecking stupid.

Got me thinking about this 'mansion tax' business. We already have a mechanism for taxing large houses: council tax. There's a factor of 2.7 between the lowest and highest bands. Maybe that factor should be increased? I also think that council tax should be payable by the owner of the house (rather than the occupant) and should be paid irrespective of whether the house is occupied.

Oh, have they changed your band?

The Valuation Authority wanted to put the flat I rent into band C, but the other 1 bedroom flat in the same block is band B. The three 2-beds are in band C. They refused my appeal so I started tribunal proceedings, but when a tribunal date was set they backed down.
