well,been to the post office today,i sold the item on ebay for a tenna,with free post,as i knew it will be 2.70£ 1 class standard,for 350 gram parcel,lady said prices changed from today,as my box didnt fit in the new frame as a small packet,it was ok in lenght,but failed in hight,so she charged me 5.60£ instead of 2.70£ she told me get new box,and repack,yeh right i could do so but i would have to save on bubble wrap,i am sure it would definately damage my item,while traveling to the buyer( it was one of my spare car models in plastic case and etc,some of you knows what i mean and what i collect),so,to be honnest,sold item for 9.99£ minus postage and ebay fee i made not more than 2 f**in pounds i should keep my item and sell it different way

When is a parcel not a parcel? When it's a 'packet'.

I swear they make up the prices on the spot. And where I go the postmistress is scary enough to enforce her decreed rates.

I know they need to make a profit, but this is getting too complicated.

that causes price increase in every bigger item sold online,i had already noticed this on ebay,my collectable cars jumped from 30£ to 36-37,now i know why,next time just get my ass out,i will save on my diesel to go round the shops or swap meets...

i am confused what they call a packet,small packet,big packet,parcel and etc...even there is an option for a letter up to 1 kg ok,this could be a medium size book in envelope right?maybe it will weight up to 1 kg but no way will fit the new size frame...

I sent some gifts to a friend in America the other day, a small shoe box sized parcel weighing maybe 1.5kg, again most of that was packaging to protect the contents (a couple of mugs and pens and a t-shirt). Had to go "Airmail Small Packets"... cost £20, that was as much as I'd paid for the contents! Last time I sent them stuff it cost £8.

I too cannot believe how much it cost to use Royal Mail. I have sold things on eBay - mostly worthless - and I offer free postage. Last thing I sold was £10, I figured £2.70 to post it so I would make £7 for something I was going to throw away.
Turns out it was just over 1kg, so postage jumped to £5.70
Did NOT pay that price - I looked on-line and have now started to use Collect+ instead - £3.99 up to 2kg, £4.99 up to 5kg. Both prices include VAT and have been very happy with the service.
I drop my parcel off at local BP garage on way to work, takes 5mins, job done.

What about length? i got some driftwood to send to a mate and i have no idea how to wrap or send the stuff.
