Re: Is this a decent code reader?
I don't pay much attention to Facebook but a friend posted something about it, meant to look it up for myself but never had chance........
Her status: ''I am appalled with Amazon's new line in T-shirts and as such will never purchase anything from them again. If you believe Domestic Violence is a serious issue and not a joke then vote with your feet and shop elsewhere! X'
'I hadn't heard it was a mistake. But apparently there are 3 for sale that glorify abuse.
Keep calm and rape her, was one of them can't remember the other two but they made me feel sick!
If it is real then they should be ashamed of themselves.
There was a comment from Lord someone or other condemning the T-shirts, which leads me to think they are actually selling them!'
'Just found the article, it's actually on Sky News on my phone. One was "Keep Calm and Hit Her" and the other "Keep Calm and Rape a Lot". Another was "Keep Calm and Grope On". It says that they were automatically generated using a scripted computer process running 100s of thousands of dictionary words. But as someone said above, what about checking them before they went out. Surely they must have customer control'

As much as I don't take notice a lot of the time, it is nice to keep in touch with friends...... just never over-do the time you spend on there... unless you're like me and talk to 406oc members on there

Re: Is this a decent code reader?
MSN has gone the way of the CB just a few loyal users, things like whats app and viber on smartphones have sort of taken over, there is hardly much point in text messaging.
On the subject of code readers though, for £20 this seems like good value:

Saw that one on eBay earlier... still looking for a decent code reader that will do the abs / air bags and everything else (or most things) not just engine stuff........
Let us know how you get on with that one

Re: Is this a decent code reader?
I sent it back as it was a fake, no serial number on the back, i wouldnt have cared but it didnt work with the subaru, although it turns out the subaru isnt obd2 compliant i had to connect 2 wires under the dash and count how the check engine light flashed to get the code.
I replaced the fake autel with an ELM327 wifi and got the dash command app for the iPhone, still only does engine stuff, but it got rid of a EML on a 2001 previa.
Although with the 406 pp2000 is the only option especially with the airbag and abs, them uber expensive snap on scanners probably can communicate with the 406 but a £100 pp2000 is relatively cheaper.

Ooooo that sounds posh, having an app for the iPhone!

So one needs to get a PP2000 ;) I shall start to save the pennies, I have to try and insure the darn beast this week

Can't believe what you got was fake

Re: Is this a decent code reader?
They do apps for android phones aswell, i think the elm327 actually can work with computers through wifi aswell
PP2000 is the best thing if you want to diagnose problems on a 406, or configure some of the options like turn off the service reminder, vin decode a radio, install the useless factory sat nav etc.
But its not to say the 406 doesnt talk to other computers, once before i got my pp2000 a man with a snap on scanner was able to detect the airbag fault to be related to the wires under the passenger seat, although not the specific one, with the pp2000 it told me exactly what wire to look at and it solved the problem.
About the fake autel, i bought it off amazon expecting it to be genuine, it wasn't, it was supposed to have connected to a computer but it couldnt, the backlight didnt work, nor did the battery connection things it advertised it could do it didn't.

Re: Is this a decent code reader?
I managed to get a second hand pp2000 for £70, and a cheap but decent laptop for £30 ( good old eBay )
I only have to use it a handful of times to have saved a pretty penny - I am hoping to get the hang of it soon and then use it to diagnose other peoples cars for a small sum to help repay the cost.
Used it to activate the self-locking, the rear wiper when reversing, change the auto wiper sensitivity and find out I had no immobiliser fault but a dodgy starter instead......
Jobs a good'un.
