No Dipstick? why the hell would they do that? in my view whatever fancy electronic aids you might have you should always have a fail safe.
This is what annoys me about new cars; all this fancy stuff is great UNTIL it falls into the hands of enthusiastic second-hand keepers later on. Imagine setting out on a 400 mile journey in your 10 year old Beamer and relying purely on an electronic gauge to tell you the oil's ok

I must say the ESP/DSC system on the BMW is extreamly relaxed!
I managed to leave the old Severn Bridge toll booths this 'saft completly sideways leaving a lovely pair of 11's behind. Funny thing is the car was in "Eco Pro" mode and the gearbox just in "Drive".
