I've been looking at these to cover up my rusty bonnet lip. The description on-line is very good and there are many cars around with them fitted but mostly VW's, not 406 to see how they really look.

What is the actual purpose of these things anyway is it to make a shabby old bonnet look good? if that's the case the seller is a marketing genius just look at the lines on that 406 so crisp and true.... It don't look like it's had a fight with a tree at all.

I just don't get it either, I've heard a few different reasonings...

To protect the paintwork - Yeah the paintwork you'll never see again isn't chipped or scratched, however the felt-backed vinyl has soaked up and held every bit of moisture it can, causing your bonnet to rust like an old nail...

To enhance the aesthetics of the vehicle - I'm sure Stevie Wonder thinks it looks great.

To reduce drag - please, don't talk bollocks!

To "absorb" police radar, reducing the risk of speeding fines - What's it like on your planet?

I saw plenty of them in the Untidy States, especially Ca-la-forn-I-A where things don't stay wet for long, so I guess the rust isn't an issue. Still, they do look a bit (what would Lozz say here? Ah yes) Ghey. Still, I was in San Francisco for some of the time...
