Well up to now, the bridgestones seem good,
Very good in the wet too,
Got a set of steelies off the cistern rarrar, breaker car with newish tyres on
Too fire on next winter, so hopefully I'll get my moneys worth out

I've always found budget tyres to be noisy and let go easily on wet roundabouts.

I had Khumo's on the Volvo an initially liked them but quickly found they were always out of balance countless trips for re-balancing and trying different garages and we found the tyres were 'out of shape' not because of damage but they weren't up to the job.

As soon as I put Uniroyals and now Pirelli's on they're all balanced perfectly and the car is well behaved.

Dunlop Fast Response's are up to it and can be less expensive than some of the others.

I believe the Khumo's couldn't take the torque and this deformed the tyre carcass, almost pulled the tyre into an egg shape.

Your car may have suffered the same, to a lesser extent, what with yours being a Diesel and that

Ever since I've had goodyears they always seem to be slightly out of balance.
One of my eagle f1s is out of shape and still has 7mm on it. Going to take it back to the tyre shop I got it from and tell them I expect it replaced FOC!

On subject of tyre fitters,
What's going on with them,

I noticed most of them now are doing valeting.. brake pad changes oil changes etc
The one I've been using is going to be getting some greif soon no doubt
Taking work off the local garages. Greedy feckers make more than enough out of tyres

Maybe they're suffering with competition from these on-line retailers? all they end up with is a small fee to mount the tyre, valve and balance. I don't think exhaust pipe failure is so common as it used to be either? my wifes Arsetray is still on its original system at nearly 10 years old, as is my Volvo at 8 years Business has to diversify to survive, if YOU don't then the Garage down the road will etc.....
