On the other hand, if it's passed then she probably has more exciting things to do that report the pass to a bunch of internet weirdos. (I speak for myself of course :supafrisk: )

I COME bearing good & bad news.

The good news is that the ABS light stayed off for the mot, DESPITE coming on TWICE mid-journey!

The bad news is that she did fail :(

The other good news is that the work and replacement part has been fitted tonight (hence keeping you waiting, I have my priorities in order) and will be going for a re-test tomorrow evening.

Now, the rear link bar had excessive play in the ball joint - which was the ONLY fail.

Question: During the re-test, IF ABS springs up, can and will he fail it? I've got a few answers to this already but want to know your opinion.

Thank you for all the kind comments and cheeky ones, If she had tax I would definitely of taken her dogging. I shall save that joy for tomorrow evening.

"interesting" method to cure the ABS light problem without fixing the cause -> http://www.vauxhallownersnetwork.co.uk/ ... sor.51574/

The lengths people go to to get the MOT ticket.
Remember - it only takes a few inches of water to drown a 406 don't make the same mistake I made! The V6 Exec is no more.

Yes to both. The re-test MOT isn't just "let's just check the thing it failed on and if it's OK now we'll pass it", it's a complete re-run of the MOT examination. If something else rears its ugly head, the guy will fail the car again.

ABS doesn't need to exist on a car in order for it to be safe, but I suspect that if it is fitted and doesn't function correctly, this is to be treated as a safety hazard and will be grounds for MOT failure. Rightly so too - you wouldn't want to slam the brakes on in an emergency and have the wheels lock up (or possibly worse, have two or three of the wheels lock up and you end up turning/skidding into oncoming traffic).

If your ABS is shoddy and the car keeps going bananas about it every so often, please get it checked professionally. I know you enjoy working on the car and I know you're better at it now than I ever will be, but some things maybe shouldn't go without professional supervision. Even if you do fix it to the point where you're happy with it, ask a trusted mechanic or auto-electrician to inspect it (only to inspect it, if you want to make any repairs they highlight).

Stay safe!

For the past 5 years every car I've had as failed the m.o.t/except the Laguna,
They've only checked the part its failed on has been repaired/rectified

I guess its all down to the mood of the tester on the day.

That's just mental, isee no logic in it anyway.
One day people will realise how important a.b.s . Is

If someone carnt afford to replace a sensor they shouid scrap the car and walk..
