paint on seats.

Post by lozz »

Hi all.
Any ideas of what will shift gloss paint off leather seats..
The 306 has been in for a valet today and now I've found gloss paint on the back seats
Haven't noticed it before as the kiddie seats have been in.
They said try meths but it won't shift it.. :(
Iphoned the main dealer up to get a price for new seat squabs..
I paid less for the car..

So the idea of replacing sections of the seat ain't gonna happen. F/t

I would go *gently* with a spare stanley blade to try to lift the paint from the surface in little goes, you might then need some black shoe polish to dob-in the patch and go over the area with leather conditioner a few times.

The risk is lifting the top layer of 'leather' off the seat.

Other than that a re trimming place can replace replace sections.

Or even contact one of these Smart Repair places see if it's anything they can do?

I can't imagine turps or similar would work as the oil in the paint is protecting it. Is it possible to wrinkle the leather seat up a bit to maybe split the paint to peel it off?

Google suggests using Hairspray in circular motions, or LTT Maxicleaner, or go to Dulux shop to get industrial wipes. Nothing stronger than turps though as will damage the leather.

I went to an Interior repair place on the off-chance once, to ask about the small split by the front seat switches on drivers side, maybe an inch long.

He said he would replace the panel for £200....

I still have the split and will attempt superglue instead.

Thanks for all the ideas.
imanaged to get all the gloss paint off.. Nightmare that was
tried the Stanley blade it got the top layer off but there was still a white film left. ,messy
so igot the wallpaper striper out and blasted steam on it..
seats ended up mingy.. So igot the swafega out..
cleaned off with plenty of rags and then steamed it again..
got a good coat of leather polish on afterwards.
ended up steam cleaning the full interior. Headlining was a bastid 2 hours graft..

re,rips in leather iuse thin fishing line stitch it then aply a thin bead of superglue let it set
then unpick the fishing line.
