For Charles, as for every cat I have known as yet, a car is not a means of transport but simply a rather oddly-shaped but very comfortable sun-lounge. Only once have I got as far as starting the engine while a cat was on board. "Cat? what cat?"
Fortunately Charles has beautiful manners, and the only non-feline who ever occupies the seating is my wife, who is even more obsessed with cats than I am.
