Well, dammit

I braked for an emergency vehicle at an intersection and got hit from behind. The left rear of my car and the front right of her car got damaged. From looking at both of them, hers took the brunt of the impact, it looked a lot worse than mine.

So I guess this proves that Peugeots are tougher than VWs :P

Insurance is handling everything now, I hope it's only cosmetic damage, like it appears to be. Dented trunk lid, scratched and dented rear bumpers, bent exhaust. I sure hope there's no unibody damage.

Sorry to hear (and see) that dude, I don't suppose you'll know the full extent until you get the bumper off. I just hope the insurance doesn't decide it's "beyond economical repair" :(

I was just thinking the same....

I really really hope it's just cosmetic but when we had the 405 estate, literally just a indicator cluster was smashed but it apparently ''bent the chassis'' (and I thought they were tough cars) and wrote it off as 'beyond economical repair'

Please keep us updated - hope she makes it!

I suspect the worst thing is going to be getting sense out of the insurance company

I damn well hope it isn't.

It's only got 143000km on it, perfect mechanical condition, perfect cosmetic condition too apart from a couple of rock chips. If they try to write it off, I'll fight it tooth and nail. It's my car, I know every little nook and cranny of it, and I'm planning on keeping it for as long as possible.

They've been very fair whenever I've had to deal with them before. It's one of the more expensive companies with really good coverage. I get a substantial union discount, which makes their prices competitive, which is why I chose them. My parents are insured with them as well, they've always been treated very fairly.
