Fitted this

Post by grasmere59 »

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-PEUGE ... true&rt=nc, For all of you with sunroofs you now what a pain it is with the sunroof open above about 40mph as the buffeting in the cabin gets terrible unless you open a window somewhere, well i bought the above and fitted it last week and took the car down to the coast today, sunroof fully open and no buffeting at any speed. The only thing with the fitting was as I've an estate with the factory roofbars I had to trim a bit of a profile at the rear edges of the deflector to make it fit but well worth the money and effort. :D

How does it look fitted? not that I have a sunroof I'm just being nosey

Is buffeting the word used to explain the ear bashing i get every time the kids open a back window at speed?

When I've a chance i'll take a pic,it doesn't look too bad at all really,i used the word buffeting but as you say it's the ear bashing you get with a window open, with the sunroof you get the same when it's open so you have to open a window somewhere to stop it but with the deflector you can leave it wide open and all the windows shut,i like to have the roof open rather than have the a/c on.

If you go fast enough the pulses will become a whistle...

I don't remember it being a problem in the D8 (the D9 don't have a sunroof :( )

Good job on it, but that's a glaring design cock-up really. How hard would it have been to make the whole thing just a smidge shorter so that it didn't foul the estate roof bars?

If that's a genuine Pug accessory it would've made for some embarrassing moments when chosen down to be fitted down at the dealers back then.

I suppose a bit of skillful trimming with a sharp blade will tidy that up a treat. It looks like at least the plastic cowling itself follows the line of the roof bar.

Yeah I think a bit of trimming is in order but otherwise it looks good. How is it fixed?

It's a genuine Peugeot part and when I bought it off ebay I never gave it a thought that it would foul the roofbars,if it were 20-25mm narrower overall it would have fitted with no trimming,i even supplied my vin to the dealers that were selling it and they confirmed it should fit, perhaps that's why it was still sat on there shelf for so long. It's fitted with 2 pressed steel "pillars" about 10mm wide x .5mm thick with a hook profile on the end which hook inside the roof opening of the car and then a self tapper each side through the Perspex into a plastic grommet in the top of the "pillar",apart from the trimming it would have taken about 10 mins tops to fit.
