Miss Pug is going away.....

Post by Sonia406 »

Yep - sold the stubborn bitch

:supafrisk: As if!
She's going away for 2 nights, a lovely break down in Brean.
We're attending French Car Show on Saturday, then Sunday evening she's going on her travels. Duvets, tent and other random sh*t in the boot space. (Joys of owning a dogging mobile hey?)

Bought a fairly cheap Pro Action 4 man tent, purely as a kiddies hide away in the back garden, to offer a little bit of shade etc. However last minute plans have changed. This is the first holiday Miss Pug will be going on, staying at a camp site I've been to before (when I had my touring caravans) which is good because I know where I am going, what I am doing and where things are...

The only problem is, last holiday we were here the Jap Crap he had at the time frayed a cam belt, and the time before that our 405 estate nearly washed out to sea.......

So - as much as ''parking on the beach is allowed'' do I dare tempt it with Miss Pugs starter motor on the end of it's life span   I think we shall just play safe and park in the car park  That said... imagine the beach shots I could get of her... make sure I take her through the car wash to get rid of all the sand - it be ok?!

Oh - and Miss Pug has been totally transformed since Pugfest........ the rubbish and junk and even tools littered in her - well...... she's unrecognisable. Hurry up kids and go Friday morning cos Mummy has to spend a full day not only cleaning the car but working on her too! (Doing spark plugs and looking at the starter motor, won't be replacing starter motor as yet though).

You going to Brean Sands?

We've been there lots of times when we had our caravan (if that's where you are going), it's very nice down there :D

If you are taking off the starter (good luck with that) clean the drive gear and shaft with some wd40 and make sure the drive gear moves back and forth nicely....get a screwdriver and lever the gear forward and let it go back under spring tension.

Have a nice time :D

Thanks Jasper! Yep Brean Sands... It's quite nice there I admit... :D
Do you think the whole starter motor is f*cked or just the solenoid? I remember having to replace just the solenoid on the 205....
Cheers dear :D

The solaniod is working fine (the solaniod only switches the drive gear to shoot out before the starter turns...think of it as an electro magnet, which it is).

From hearing your starter working you seem to have a tight bearing or a faulty rotor and windings that's why I suggest you lubricate the main shaft bearing first.....also give the starter a thump with a small hammer on the widest part in the middle all round, also look at the end bearing for any wear or if it hasn't fallen out.

Ha ha ha - you guys don't half make me laugh

Some people go on holidays to take photographs of ancient sh*t, rocks and monuments.
Me? Here is Miss Pug at the beach, Heres' Miss Pug getting something to eat, Heres' Miss pug keeping cool..........
This forum wouldn't be complete without a mad woman on it would it :D

This being said she's still causing a few problems, before going away I have a list as long as my arm to do:

- First off, kids go to their dads tomorrow 10am
- Tidy the whole car out, tools back in the garage, rubbish in the bin
- Hoover the whole car out
- Wash the whole car, inside, out. Air vents won't be missed and I have already noticed a coating of dust on the MFD
- Rear reg plate bulb needs replacing (is this an easy job, looks like I pry apart with a screw driver?)
- Front o/S Fog lamp (which was brand new) has dodgy connection, need to check bulb and connection.
- Replace spark plugs
- Look at starter motor, jotting down the code from it
- Then all the obvious sh*t, regardless I only just put a litre of GT-X in, check the oil level, check water, tyre pressures - all that stuff!

All this has to be done by Friday 5pm as heading off to Swindon for the night, Saturday FCS, Sunday mid day packing (talk about leaving it last minute!) Sunday PM, leaving!

Yes, dead easy - until you try to put it back together.
Maybe some of you can do it, but I break the sodding things every time. Good news is the complete light fitting's about £3 from Pug.

Haynes can indeed be helpful - last time I threw the book at the wall, rather than thump the car. :cheesy:
