Great day yesterday, really enjoyed meeting everyone and being able to put some names to usernames! Thanks to Rich for organising it, and thanks to Kelv for letting me borrow his MAF and EV.
I can't make the 6th either I'm afraid, but I'll be sure to attend the subsequent one

Did you go back via the A303 and get caught in that huge tailback after the beamer had some sort of accident? I pulled in a layby about 2 miles before the tailback and saw a black 406 coupe fly past me, was that you? Did you see me?jonsowman wrote:Great day yesterday, really enjoyed meeting everyone and being able to put some names to usernames! Yep got stuck in that! 1 series seemed to have had a fairly catastrophic blowout I think.Sonia406 wrote:Did you go back via the A303 and get caught in that huge tailback after the beamer had some sort of accident? A few from me:
Work was cut out doing that starter motor:
It had gone dark on us: so start up and idling nicely... (Take no notice to the airbag light, I couldn't start her for long, instant gasket was still sealing up, it just hadn't had time to go off yet...)
Went to the garage for fuel and oil, decided a car wash was necessary:
6am leaving, followed the slowest car ever made (A Toyota Estima)
Look at the dust (A far cry from my cotton buds in air vent malarky)
First there again: waiting for the boys to catch up
Latte in one hand, rag in the other, time to polish before they arrive
We went to chase up Gingermagic and Jon, Doggy was most annoyed and pointed a fair bit at them rwb just looked like he agreed
I was second in convoy and tried my best to keep up with GingerMagic in Doggys car....
As soon as I saw the soot I had to change down in 4th, fair play to Doggys friend in the red 406 estate behind me, we left the saloons standing...
Arrived @ Haynes

Robbed some stickers off Dai (Three to be precise) Fitted two earlier today:

By the by guys, I just caught the tail end of an interview on Sky (spit) News of J. Haynes. I was a bit worried that they were going down the pan but apparently they've just bought Clymer (another manual producer, mostly bikes) and are now videoing their work - not only for stills for the manuals, but also for interactive DVDs. The best bit was they pay tax! Not only do they pay it, they are proud to pay more than they're meant to
Creepy guy but, wow, good news for all of us who don't like guessing (well, mostly...)

Re: Haynes museum, 22nd September 2013
Well Dai & Sam I found that diversion on my way up to Bristol. Eventually found the A37, and that was hard work! People drive so slowly: I overtook an Audi TT in order to get up to a 307 and motorhome (taken at the same time), then a tractor and Nissan (also at the same time), and a 5-series, and a Golf.
The Bristol channel with the tide out is very strange, and seeing the Clifton bridge from below was impressive.
Had my foot down on the way back. I forget how capable that car is at 70+, and still averaged 51 on the computer (add ten).
Here are the three estates in front of me in the convoy: 2.2, 2.0 petrol, and 2.2. I could not keep up.
