The Grass IS greener on my side

Post by Welly »

Ever heard of the company 'Green Thumb'? they canvassed my area a few weeks ago about a lawn treatment system and typically I just thought "load of bollox" and ignored them.

Someone else mentioned it to her indoors and SHE arranged for an introductory offer (£10.00 treatment) on the basis that if we like it we can pay a monthly fee for them to 'take care' of our Lawns all year round (not agreed to this bit yet).

Anyhoo the bloke came, sprinkled magic beads all over the place and went..........two days later I looked at the Lawn and all the weeds were very prominent :o very obviously bigger and freaking loads of them :o ....then they went purple and died....ALL OF THEM :? I had no clearing up to do either, they literally vanished.

Since then the grass has been taking on a very lush kinda look, noticeably so, and yesterday I gave it a little cut (not too short) and thought I'd show you. Bear in mind that before this I had a 'mediocre' Lawn where I'd try to pull most weeds by hand so it looked ok but otherwise was a typical UK Lawn i.e. full of clover, moss, all that stuff and 'patchy' grass at best.

This is about 5 weeks since the treatment and it's continuing to improve, I don't know what's doing it but it's made it really easy for me. I'm now telling people to 'keep off the grass' it is literally like a soft Carpet :)

That's impressive.

Now, I shouldn't need to do this, but ask them for a MSDS, then get the active ingredients from the chemists for 4p / decade.

That does look very nice indeed  I only care about 1 lawn here and that's the lawn I sewed out the front at my other half's, after I'd made the ground level up & erected a fence to stop the dunderhounds' burrowing activities. The weeds are gradually taking over despite my best manual efforts though. I got some of that feed & weed stuff off my dad a couple of years back but, after reading the instructions, I've never got around to using it (so many days after cutting, so many days after/before rain, I need a bluddy crystal ball  ) The rest are just the general weedariums so popular here. It was quite dry this year and, as a change from the usual mowing twice a week up at my place, I didn't have to mow at all :cheesy: Although brown isn't such an attractive colour for a lawn...

very nice looking lawn, we have a bit of a problem with ours at the moment, our front lawn joins onto next doors and there is no border and they have not cut there lawn once in the 8 months that they have moved in.
my wife cuts both lawns as she can't stand to see the place looking a mess, the annoying thing is they haven't even mentioned it or said thankyou.

All the pellets are is dried liquid nitro-gen,
some farmers over here are throwing them on the fields, (so it must be cheap)
