I can't say for certain either, but it looks like the straight pipe will fit in place of the tee that branches to the other heat exchanger. Worst case, that branch could be plugged instead.

The exhaust just looks like the middle pipe's rotted away, but I've a nasty suspicion the bolts holding the cat / fap assembly together aren't going to give up without a fight. Get 4 M8 x 40 stainless set screws, nuts + washers first.

Wouldn't have thought oil seeping from the air doser would reach as far over as the alternator, maybe an (old) spill from changing the fuel filter? I had a leaky filter bowl and it would up killing the alternator. :( Besides, oil is usually much more in evidence at the base of the intercooler than the air doser - if the i/c's clean the doser's likely to be similar.
- BTW you can just pull off the front part of the acoustic hood to check.

There's as many answers to the egr + air doser delete or not argument as there are owners. I still have both - (even worse I've got all the bits to replace them but haven't taken the plunge).

The air doser on a 2.2 is used to select the route the air takes from the turbo to engine. Under normal conditions, it goes as you would expect throught the intercooler, the alternative path is through a water heated exchanger, intended to raise the air temp to asist in getting the exhaust temp high enough to burn off the soot in the FAP during a regen. (It also puts on the glow plugs, HRW and a few other bits to load the engine, as well as injecting fuel on the exhaust stroke to start a horizontal chimney fire).
So with a defap, you don't need it - except it also helps warm the engine up from cold, (much like the egr, which also help heat your heater matrix).

Huge thanks to you Doggy for taking the time to speak to me earlier..
Still on eBay and he's letting the auction run, so it's safe to sleep I shall not be sleeping until Monday evening.......

I've decided all things considered I really really really WANT THIS CAR.
The work it needs doesn't put me off whatsoever......
Yes it has high mileage, but it's been well looked after mechanically. It doesn't have a tow bar and hasn't been towing anything so mechanically it's had an easy ish life

[quote="oldskoolskool"]As far as I know the airdosser just select one of the two intake air routes on the engine, under normal conditions the air is routed through the inter-cooler, but when the car is trying to re-generate the fap (DPF) the air is routed through the heat exchanger instead. so if the car is to be de-fapped with the appropriate file then the air dossers will never be used.

Only point to think about is I don't think both of the nicowico pipes fit on the saloon, the one that replaces the airdossers is fine, but I'm not sure about the straight pipe, will check on the coupe forum as someone has done this to a saloon on there.[/quote

]I have only bought the top part of the Nico pipes as the bottom part is too short for a saloon or estate. I am hoping a standard 110Hdi bottom pipe will be suitable as it just goes from bottom of engine to the intercooler but without the mid-section the 2.2Hdi has

You should definitely go for the car if it is budget - mine was a wreck, but slowly but surely it is now something half-decent. Just look had how much you learned doing Miss Pug.... :cheesy:

If you can get it at the right price, all well and good, but don't talk yourself into bidding more than it's worth. It's only going to appeal to someone like you that wants to tidy it up for themselves - with everything sorted / 12 months ticket, I believe it would struggle to make more than £8-900.

As if there wasn't enough detail already :cheesy: From the DW12 training manual:
22 and 26 are the dosers/throttles, and 1 and 10 are the EVs that control them. As you can see, removing the FAP means doser 22 and EV 10 are no longer used.

Thanks GM, I am hoping it stays within budget.... I think the most important thing is that I realize with these modern diesels I am out of my depth, the 205s and I am sure even the 405s had none of this DPF sh*t...... I need to do some reading and bring myself up to speed with it all... But you're right, I did so much on Miss Pug, just last week the cylinder head cover gaskets (should of seen the state I got myself into)

That's exactly right Doggy...

The sad part of this story is that I logged into eBay and I see Miss Pug has parts on the way

- Bee sting ariel (ok, so this can be transfered)
- 16v chrome badge
- body tape for the new LX badges on N/s

Poor poor Miss Pug...... My drive way will hopefully have 2 406 estates sitting on it in a couple of weeks............ :D
I'll be an emotional wreck selling Miss Pug... who wants to sell it for me? I can't bring myself to do it...............

I did consider adding one of those on the front grille, (since there's absolutely no external indication it's a 2.2).

But modesty (and apathy) triumphed in the end.

The hdi is a 16valver. Albeit it runs on 12 valves at low engine revs.

I'd suggest something else. By the time you fix the exhaust, timing belt, water pump etc etc - it will be a 2k excercise. And then you can get a nice 406 for that amount of coin!
Sorry bud but I have to disagree, yes 180k is quite a lot but it sounds like it's been well looked after these hdi's will do 300k no prob & the 2.2 suposed to be better.
I have just done my cam belt with a SKF kit very good over here, comes with ideller wheel, tensioner wheel, belt & Aux pully bolt. Also did water pump / themostat / new coolant
Crank seal (just to be sure £12 from the steelers), Aux belt £125 all in, yes I did the work myself but was quoted £300 for the job.
So I reckcon that motor could be all sorted for £750 top's that's cam belt kit with water pump & coolant, oil / oil filter / air filter / fuel filter / + full exhaust cat back & weld up cat / dpf & gut them while your at it.
If your paying a good inde for the work maybe £1000 top's .

That's exactly why I bought it :D
It has been looked after, regularly serviced, looked after - yes it could do with an oil change later this year, needs the exhaust looking at and next year is due a cam belt BUT - it has been looked after definitely. Peugeot diesel engines are well known for their durability and they last ... I'm new to the modern diesels but still know Pug diesels are the best... :D
I saw the car in person and knew from that moment on I was buying it - In fact my highest bid was OVER double what I'd paid for it... I'm glad it didn't go for that much because in some respects, it really wasn't worth it - BUT - a determined woman should never be crossed

Thanks Dirty Diesel - want to do my belts next year, you sound like you know what you're doing now  :supafrisk:

Hi Sonia,
Congrats on the new purchase :cheesy: , I'd do the belt's for ya but I think a 300 mile round trip to get ya belts changed is a bit excessive  , anyway isn't jasper down your way. I understand that he's very resonable on cost & we all know how good he is 8) .
If I were you I would do a oil / oil filter / air filter & fuel filter straight away & stick to 6000 miles for the oil & filter & fuel filter to be safe, It's also a very good idea to put a can of engine flush into the old oil for 15 mins or so before you drain it just to help remove any carbon deposit's ect  & I would do the belts this year 100k or 120 month's is to long I.M.H.O, more like 6 years or 75k but that's me £125 if you do it yourself / £250-300 at a inde V a engine re-build / replacment I know my choice  .
B.T.W, look's nice.
