Re: 405?
I had a G-reg 405 1.9GR (carbs) and it went like a rocket! The best bit was the handling! no body roll and really pointy.
Finding one would be the usual trawl of the internet I think

Re: 405?
Agreed. Better than the 406. Loved my dad's 1.6 petrol one. Wasn't the quickest off the mark but it was as relaxing as a bath.

Re: 405?
Yup, the 405 is lovely. My old mans red estate had done 350,000 miles before the speedo broke and maybe a few thousand after - such a good car.
It was the older diesel, not the xud, and it was very sprightly, handled like a dream and was an effortless drive, even a 1,000 mile round trip.
The only main fault was the headlining fell down over the driver from time to time...

Re: 405?
I bought a brand new 405 1.9 GL back in about 1988, shortly after they came out.
I didn't keep it long, as I discovered that I still preferred 6-cylinder cars.
I do remember what I really liked about it.
The looks, just a really good looking car.
The combination of excellent ride, and handling.
