I did get quite a long way under as I had a curver-box lid to lie on. Mid section and back box completely f*kd. Couldn't get a good look at the flexi but almost certainly needs replacing.

Bit worried about the state of the flange on the DPF to which the mid-section clamps.

The flexi-section begs the bottom mount question...
(I reckon the clutch should be good for at least 40k since it can't have been used much on a car doing 40k per year, i.e., on the motorway in 5th all the time.)

Front springs and top mounts more pressing?

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Thanks Rwb... Nice to know they are both f*kd....
Hope I can find a flexi for a 2.2... been told the 2.0 hdi flexi I found on eBay (or someone found me) won't actually fit

Not a bad price, but says it's not compatible with the 2.2 HDi and I can't find one that actually is

So it seems I can not buy a flexi pipe without the cat being attached
Just spoke to a good exhaust company over in Swindon & I've been put on a staff account and it's made it cheaper   (Sometimes being a woman helps so much... When he said I was on a staff account, I asked does that mean I am your boss?
£73 which includes the middle section and back box and clamps needed.
He said a 'walk around his warehouse' may get me a universal flexi section that can be welded on - this is certainly the way forward. :D

I like being part of the in crowd.
Sorry, Graeme - Your engine's too big.
Damn. Your engine has 2179cc, mine has 2230cc.

But look on the bright side - your engine has more power and better fuel economy than mine! Wait ... that's not a good thing from my perspective. Aw, boo :(

I asked him months ago about a few parts (starter motor etc) and he completely ignored my message.
IF anyone can contact him for me and ask after that flexi section, posted price - please let me know what he says. No idea why he ignored my message. Maybe he got nervous a girl messaged him

I can pop into his place on my way down from Leeds on Saturday, and bring it straight to you.

I like him. Whenever I've called or popped in he's always been really helpful, and taken the time to talk to me and even shown me around. He's a pleasure to do business with.

Will you be going out of your way on Saturday to visit him? I'm not overly fussed about using him to be honest.. I used no swear words
Does anyone have his number and can simply call him (on my behalf, though don't mention me!) and ask if he has the flexi down pipe for the 2.2 HDi?
I think it's best that I get the car back here (be it Sunday or next week) and have a proper look at the pipe to 100% justify it needs a new one, first! :)

Dead right. Also, don't automatically assume the flexi needs changed if the outer braiding is a bit frayed, it may well work without leaking for several years in this condition.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
