Ebay woes

Post by FarmerPug »

A bit of a rant

I recently purchased an oscillating multi tool off ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1237627470

The problem is that the listing says that it was used once like new, which i thought would include the blades, and attachments that you get with one of these when new. Any Worx WU676 for sale brand new comes with blades, their website even states what it comes with:
https://www.worx.com/SonicrafterWU676.aspx
However it arrived today just the machine in its box and a few bits and pieces but no blades.

I asked when it arrived where the blades were and got an email saying that because the pictures or listing did not show the blades they were not included in the sale. I suppose its my mistake for not asking about the blades before buying it. But on the other hand i thought if it was like new it would have all the bits it came with.

Used once my arse, how can all the blades be used if the machine was only used once.

Sadly, the item is as the picture shows, doesn't say anything about the blades - looks like the seller is a bit of a cock and thought he would pull a fast one.

Try opening a dispute in ebay - every email between you and the seller is monitored by ebay and more often than not things go the buyers way, worth a punt, nothing to lose.

If the kit normally includes the blades, and the seller describes the item 'like new',
and shows some rather indistinct photos..., in my opinion, it's his responsibility
to make it clear in the description that the blades are missing.

I'd take it further with the seller, with a view to raising a case.

What is it you want ? A reduction, return or..?

eBay these days making a much bigger emphasis on buyer satisfaction.

I would open up a dispute case, get a full refund though ebay & buy a new one (complete kit off ebay) for £99.00, I take it the link you posted is to the one you bought.
If it is, I hope you don't mind me saying but why did you bid £95 for a used one when £99 get's you a new one  .

That one in the link was indeed the one i purchased, Its the 300W version the WU676 with the hyperlock which means it can take blades from other manufacturers and new it costs £160-£170

But Argos has the less powerful version 250W (more than enough power probably) at £79.99 if i get this sent back ill go to argos:

Looking at the sellers 'other items' they've sold bits of kit before, in my opinion 'liberated' from various sites he's worked on :frown:

I firmly believe ebay is one place to shift on stolen goods, indeed where I work we know one of the lads is stealing our materials from site and selling them on ebay, we're currently looking at setting up a 'sting' to catch the f*cker in the act.

Here's an example: we use Aluminium foil tape in our trade and sh*t loads of it, if you've ever bought any it is very expensive so if you did ever need any you would buy ONE roll and make the most of it. Pop over to ebay and people are selling countless rolls of the stuff all photographed from the Kitchen worktop or whatever - now why the f*ck would anyone happen to have many rolls of foil tape? it just wouldn't happen - it's been stolen from sites!!

Hnnnnnnnng :frown:

Yes, apologies, I have a very tainted view of ebay and it is purely my opinion.

I don't have an ebay account, and I don't think I'll ever need to. I can't stand the fact you have to kiss everyone's arses with "oh, you're such a good ebayer" and all that sh*t. I know my Mum uses it and shits herself about getting negative feedback, she must lose money on some stuff so as not to risk her 'reputation', load of bollox I say.

On a few occasions I've had sellers email me up asking me to leave positive feedback, on some occasions repetitively sending emails looking feedback. I like to have the thing a week just to make sure it works before leaving feedback.

I just write stuff like "received with thanks" and the like. I dunno about anyone else but when I'm checking users out I only look at the negative stuff anyway. I've never even bothered to look at my feedback. The last problem I had was buying something off of someone in France, I had to get the wife to do the translations because I know some French don't like it if you blindly talk to them in English or worse use Google translate. Anyway, he took it to their post office and found he'd quoted the postage too cheaply because as far as they were concerned Croatia wasn't in Europe :roll:and he asked me to make up the difference I said to the guy it's been in Europe since July so he had a word and came back with a better deal which I was ok with. Then he got back to me and said it was his fault so he'd swallow the loss

Yeah, there's a lot of moody gear on there. And in the local paper, and... Plus there's loads of grot that you wouldn't touch with a shitty stick. I have been trying not to buy stuff from China but there are loads of people on there that buy it from China and then try and punt it out at a profit.

Most of the time it just makes buying stuff so easy, especially from here where it's hard to get anything or it costs a fortune when you do find it. I've still never got round to selling anything, all the advice I got given before kind of scared the hell out of me. Plus what I do have to sell I have no idea how much is worth, possibly a small fortune, possibly not, I've no idea, and I don't want to mess it up.
