Anyone else had this?

Post by dirtydirtydiesel »

On my way home today, a nice clear bit of road doin 60ish & I thought I would treat my brakes to a bit of KozmoNauts monthly braking cleaning  .
I jumped on the pedal as hard as I dared & F**k me the hazzard light's came on by there own  , turned them off & tryed it again a bit further down the road.
Bugger me same again :? .
So I guess this must be a safty feature  .

When you say turned them off does the hazard button pop out then?

I saw it happen once a few weeks back but the woman's brakes threw the car about too it was so bad she left the m5 or could have been m42 in a hurry she looked scared to death... sh*t me up a bit tbh.

Yep it's a "feature", can be disabled with PP2000 should you feel the need.

yep i've had this on mine, i had only just picked up my car and was driving back up the motorway and suddenly the traffic slowed and i had to hit the brakes fairly quickly and i nearly crapped myself as i didn't feel as though i had it brake that hard the pedal sank right down and the hazzards came on and boy did it stop quick ,it just felt as though someone else had jumped on the brake pedal
i was very wary of the car after that and thought there was something wrong with the brakes until my mate said they have emergency brake assist which i believe it applies the brakes hard if you hit the pedal quickly.
if the car is stationary and you hit the brake pedal quickly you can feel the pedal sink right down.

I had that just once, and I'm certain they went back off themselves.

Indeed at Pugfest on the steep corner where people 'indicate' I'm sure it's this feature: we can't see the driver's side and they braked hard and late before the corner.

It can be adjusted in PP2000, but I can't remember what the condition is. It's either the speed at which the brake pedal is pressed (which would require two brake pedal switches to measure), or if the car decelerates above a certain rate.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Umm... trust me, after my ABS came back after harsh breaking (although not too harsh to set off the hazard lights) this is not something I am going to tempt fate with in Pugster... I've seen enough ABS warning lights to last me a couple of life times

I think Eric's car, my car and others did flash the hazard lights as we slammed on the brakes for the 2nd hairpin. I didn't feel anything happen to the pedal though but the lights did come on for a few seconds...

Didn't notice if the hazard switch was flashing as I was too busy clenching my ring....

PP2000 can adjust the sensitivity of the hazards coming on when braking sharply, depends how hard you brake or how much you want to warn the people behind you.

I see modern cars flashing the hazards when they come flying towards me on a narrow country lane and they have to jump on the middle pedal, as there is nowhere for them to go because my lorry is much bigger than their Citroen C3... :cheesy:

I didn't think so, because:

a). I thought I'd accidentally nudged the indicators, since I didn't need to turn the hazards off - reading the above, now I'm not so sure. :?
b). I was driving like your granny anyway, as I'm sure Rich & Dai will confirm. :supafrisk:
