I am fortunate enough to drive a lorry all day so I can spot where the ' cut price fuel ' stations are. Basically I use the branded stuff and whichever is closest - I think 2p per litre difference in price means a saving of £1, which equates to about 8 miles extra on a full tank - its hardly worth the travel to get there ....

Supermarket fuel in the 306 td, Branded stuff in the Hdi with a super-diesel fill every 4th tank or so....

steve_earwig wrote:That's a point about the fap though, remember that lady 2.2 HDi owner (Amron?) that came on here with a dead car because she'd been just putting a little fuel in all the time and the car wouldn't run on a 50/50 diesel/eolys mix?
I'm letting my father-in-law abuse his 307 hdi110 like this for the moment, because his car's constantly coming up with "DIESEL FILTER BLOCKED" which is actually the fap, not the diesel filter

He's had a litre () of eolys put in, and although the ECU still thinks the eolys tank is empty, I'm hoping a) there was actually some put in (the garage in question seems a bit dodgy) and b) it's putting it into the tank so when I get round to trying another forced regeneration, a high concentration of the stuff will actually chuck some crap out the back. The first attempt singed the earth behind the car but didn't actually dislodge anything

When I see a mountain of soot on the floor is when I'll educate him in the art of not putting a fiver's worth in every week

What's Fuel Log saying for your fuel price per mile and accumulated price per mile Kelv? My pug was doing 19p and 26p respectively, the Vulva is doing 15p and 27p, so at the moment it's not cheaper to run  ( although the £800 I've spent on winter tyres and alloys to put them on has had a 5p/mile impact on that   ). It's important that people remember to use the accumulated cost when they're working out how much a journey will cost them.

I'm still amazed by the number of people I speak to who don't pay attention to fuel prices, the "you've got to have it, haven't you?" attitude. In my case I usually put close to 70l in, and the filling shops around here vary by as much as 6p/l, so that's around £4 a tank, or about £80 a year, well worth saving!

Well at the moment on my commute you can have Shell or Esso for the same price as Morissons, so that's a no-brainer.

£2.64 per mile on the 407 so far -- buying it, insuring it and everything. 13p on fuel.
The 406 was 21p for everything, and 9p on fuel -- including fills at 88.9p/litre! At 137.9/litre that would be 11p.

I've got the choice of V-Power, or supermarket fuel without going too far out of my way round here, so I pay whatever Shell want me to pay

I use the Petrol (yes, it really is called that, Slovenian I think) gas station in Klinča Sela 'cos I think* their fuel is slightly better - I seem* to get more mil.. sorry, kilometres out of their gas than the cheaper Ina in the high road here.

*may well be complete ballcocks as I'm told it's all the same rubbish anyway...

Esso Penydarren, they price match Asda and I'm sure the fuel is better (plus you don't have your bits frozen off when you're filling up).

I'd want to find which fuel took me the furthest rather than which is the cheapest?

Speaking of filling up and freezing your bits; Tesco have built a 'Super Tesco' in Corby (read: Poland) and the Petroleum Dispensary is in a drive-through stylee (drive through payments) it's a bit weird.

Most places here are between £1.34 and £1.39 per litre, and supermarkets are not always cheaper - BP is cheapest at the moment...

So far I have only used fuel log for fuel costs as the thought of knowing how much per mile for everything kinda scares me a bit, and makes me feel we should go down to being a 1 car family....

I keep fuel logs for everything and work out everything on a Pence per mile basis.
I have taken Averages over the last 31,000miles/18 months inputting data into a spreadsheet to give me my findings. I make note of the type of driving and the average temperature over thank tank full.

Currently BP Ultimate leads at 11.02p/m.
Shell V Power is second at 12.04p/m.
Tesco normal diesel is around 14p/m.

Using Millers EcoMax additive seems to bring the cost down by about 0.5p/m.

I have issues running on Sainsburys diesel, Texaco (Normal & Supreme), Shell Diesel and ASDA diesel.
The car will stutter or hesistate on the motorway when I take my foot off the accelerator and put it back on again.
The only common factor I can see is they all use 7% Bio. Anything that only has 5% Bio I have no issues with?

There is warnings in the handbook that fuel with a higher bio content than 5% should not be used in the MK4 Mondeo under ny circumstances and doing so will void any warrenties
Ford also started handing out leaflets when you bought their cars appareantly warning people of morrisons diesel because of the bio content! :?
