From noise.
It's only slight. Silent today, but it was its noisiest yet yesterday -- having been sat all weekend.

However, I wonder whether cranking against the unstable mass of a bust DMF isn't helping.

Didnt make any difference to the starting on mine when it was knackered, Noise was consistent and hideous

Don't jump into replacing it so soon. It could be something else...

Dip the clutch while cranking, see if it's any better, at least you'll have released the burden of turning the main shaft through the gearbox. This crow slanking could just be dirty terminals on those big-ass cables to the Marter Stoter?

(into spoonerisms this month, or is that roonerspisms?)

1 or 2 cracks when I start it in the afternoon.
The worst is in the morning and when it's about 5 degrees: cold, but too warm for pre-heat.
Will give the dipped clutch a try tomorrow morning...

With the noise it could well just be that I've got my ear tuned in now and it's always been there, but there's definitely something there. An aperiodic knock.

Uh oh Rwb.... That's not good!

I've decided to get in touch with an old friend who will get his friend (with a garage) to take a quick look over Pugster.
I am not happy nor confident that HiQ did a good enough job whatsoever.

My handbrake is definitely seizing on the NEARSIDE and it's getting worse, a really loud rumble this morning from it.
Plus their 'winter check' was not as in depth as one would hope - even though it was free..

I know they have ticked my shocks are fine so I am starting to question the rear nearside spring (or track rod end) or something like that, I am getting horrendous noises going over the local speed bumps, the whole rear axle sounds - well........ broken
Ok, dramatization, but the noise is well, quite loud and like a squeaky bouncey sort of noise

And after the noises that thing pulled this morning it's fair to say he had another fight with said wheelie bin on the drive still........

£143 says Miss P is road legal again (after swapping insurances over) - Dare me to do it boys, just go on, dare me to do it!

Well, my offer still stands, a few quid on diesel and a 4 hour drive each way gets my time free and the car gets a good sort out :D

Only problem? is that business is picking up and time is getting limited towards Christmas.

I really don't know what to do, I either make a financial commitment to fuel, labour and parts (You're not doing it for free, my orders) and just keep fingers crossed it passes the mot, or I spend £143 on the tax to get miss pug legal again... which then buys me time until May to sort this thing out! - The only problem with that theory is that, if it does fail the mot on really serious stuff, it is then not MOT'd for the trip up to yours - talk about catch 22!

grab the bull by the horns and fire it in for Mot abit early
if it fails on to much then get mrs pug taxed up

you never knows it might pass with a few advisorys. get any obvious things fixed before mot steering rack gaitors are an obvious fail
but cheap to buy (get someone off here to fit them for you :supafrisk: )

Thanks Lozz, Problem is I know for a fact the thing WILL fail! How the wheels haven't fallen off yet I don't know? :?
WHEN it fails the MOT it is then grounded locally and I can't hire the forum mechanic with at least 43 years experience to complete the work - so the decision has been made.

Car will be sodding off next week up North for a couple of months at best, in which time IT will have a damn good looking over and get through an MOT..

When it's up there and safe I am coming back via train and taxing Miss P, £143 and she is road legal again, until May at least!

This car requires so much work even if I could be bothered with it I wouldn't know where to start.. Jasper5 is the pro here. He can sort it for the MOT, and do a little service up there (filters, belts etc)

Looking forward to getting rid of it, shame it has to come back I guess :supafrisk:

If I felt that bad about a car I'd be cutting my loses and weighing it in at the local scrapyard and moving on.

me as well if i would cut my loses now and get shot, i've had car like that before and couldn't get one with them and even after spending money on them ended up getting rid when what i should have done was sold it on straight away.
