Think my Gran has offered to pay for a survey.
I'm not too worried as like you say the mortgage company will check all that!
Mortgage company only survey to confirm it is habitable (kitchen and bathroom present) and that the valuation is realistic to confirm your LTV.
They don't check *anything* else. Your solicitor will check mine records etc but depending on the area's history and age of the house the only way to have some sort of certanty is to have a proper survey. (by proper I don't mean a home buyers survey )
Great.
A letter that was sent recorded to the mortgage adviser containing pay slips, copys of driving licenses, back statements etc etc seems to have gone missing in the post.

Why not call your Bank and see what they advise? I'm just wondering what someone could do with that info....the drivers licence can't prove Identity as the Photo will be 'wrong' and it's only a copy so I don't think it will get past that first hurdle. Someone could try to set up a direct debit or finance agreement maybe? speak to your bank(s) they could put a marker on your account so that any new attempted Direct Debits or whatever have to be authorised by you over the phone. Biggest risk is someone getting your card details, pin, address and expiry date and this is not the case.

Had the same thing happen to me... Was left a "We missed you" card and was told that my parcel was left at my local PO. Guess what? No sign of the parcel at the local PO! Took them two weeks to find it
