Back in the day, mid 80's, I don't recall ever seeing many of these on the road,
even among the yuppies. There were, though, quite a few of the Coupe GT
version, non-turbo, non 4WD. Always liked the looks. But that Audi dashboard,
awful.

Are the doors welded shut? :supafrisk:

Is it just me or is that Audi a bit of an old clunker with a paint job to hide all the rust?

Lots of these film/TV prop cars are clunkerish.

Often they don't really need to be wonderful, or mechanically great. They just need to fit in
with the theme, or time period of the film. The red Mk2 Jaguar in 'Morse' was apparently
so decrepit, that the scenes where it arrived in shot had to be done by a bunch of the crew
pushing hard, then letting it roll into view of the camera.

I've done various film extra pieces of work to get the money in. Worked on a film called
'Never Let Me Go'. Set in the 80's, the cars included Cavalier, Talbot Sunbeam... Up close, a rather rough looking lot.

Well exactly, and some mug's going to buy that for a big pile of wedge because it was in some tv series, then they'll get it home (eventually...) to find the series it should've been in was The Flintstones

I call 'shitter' on the Quattro.

Nostalgia aside it is just a ragged TV prop having had a hard life being hooned about and thrashed from cold. Someone'll buy it and enjoy* it for a bit, get bored, find all its faults....OMGMPG

It's not about that though is it? It's about owning a genuine piece of TV memorabilia. To be fair the seller appears to have been quite honest with the description of the faults etc.

If you were of a certain, anorak style persuasion, you could take this around every car show in Britain and it'd attract a load of attention. If it was in Beaulieu or somewhere I wouldn't be disappointed to see it on display.

Fixxored :cheesy:

How about this one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1988-AUDI-COU ... 1c3c22bc3f Interior certainly doesn't look like a damp dog's been living in it but I'm sure you could drill a few holes in the dash...

It's not really about buying a piece of tv memorabilia, it's about buying a pile of junk just because of what it was once used (briefly) for, rather than seeing it as it really is, laughing, and walking away.

I wondered that, it's either the 'SFX' people moved the rad so they can crash it though fake scenery etc or it was actually like that from factory :?

Bids are up to £14K now  just read the description again and the guy kinda 'glossed over' the Bullet Hole look......the original shot-up door was given to the writers! those 'holes' on the door now are Vinyl Stickers
