Window issue driving me insane

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Window issue driving me insane

Post by delvey »

So my window on the front passenger side was playing up. Then the other day giving a mate a lift home and he opened it, only for it to not go back up. The strange thing is it will still go down
So far i have done
1. New drivers switch, only £10 and my was playing up anyway
2. Another window regulator, same thing will go down not up
3. BSI reset, also left the battery off for an hour but no avail
4. I have noticed now as well that the drivers side will not operate the window down, only the passenger side
I have managed to use some wood to wedge the window up. But obviously this is not ideal
So I am assuming that it must be a broken connection somewhere. But where to I start. Could it be a wire running from the switch in the passenger side to the the motor?

I see you changed the driver's door switch, not the passenger's? They get wet too...

I've had the opposite problem, (won't open), several times on my nsr door and once on the front passenger door. Both sprang back into life after firmly operating the switches on the affected doors. Lack of use, maybe?
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)

Tried another switch on passenger door
Tried a firm press but to no avail
Managed to use some wire to reverse the connector so managed to get it to go up, will disconnect the motor so nobody can put it down. Once the weather is better I will have a proper look
