reserve car

Post by Ares »

Since my beloved princes peugeot 406 is still sitting in front of garage and, dont have time to spare or wait this rain to finally stops droping i am in a emergency to find some fast cheap replacement.

Originally the option was to buy some 309 but my GF said that she will commit sucide if she sits in that old bucket so after some searching, this comes up as the best candidate:

http://www.njuskalo.hr/auti/peugeot-306 ... s-10477660

Any thoughts on this peugeot 306 XT 1.8 engine, its a petrol version, diesels are about 4 times higher prices.
Are these engines reliable?

It's almost disposable at that price

That's a dealer and it looks like all their cars have registration, some of them fresh so they must do their own. Apart from that one :?

Ares,
They are a very solid dependable motor as long as it's had cambelt changes & regular oil & filter changes  .
Ask for proof of a cambelt & pull the dip stick & check the condition / colour of the oil.
If it sounds a bit tappity then a can of engine flush in the oil with a fast idle (approx 1500-2000 rpms) for 20 mins before draining & fresh 0-40w with a new oil filter will see you right.
But T.B.H as steve says at that money you can't really go wrong :cheesy:

I didnt want to open up a new topic right away, but just wanted to tell you all my final solutions.

I have chosen this:

The lexus style lights have been already replaced by its original lights.
What do you think...was 1900 euros, the guy who sold it to me was really a honest peugeot fan and was having hard time separating from his vehicle.

Thanks dirtydirtydiesel.
I always wanted coupe and this one was cheap because it was involved in accident but overall mechanicly was very well maintained.
This one has few scratch and dents, but the guy has new doors,i only need to find front bumper.

Looks alright to me :cheesy: had a bit of a side-swipe but only lightly so replacement panels should be fine.

All I would say is be careful with the respray as Silver is a pig to match. You'd be better respraying the whole side really.

I thought it was rather cheap  Interesting how that picture doesn't appear in the advert :frown: I don't think finding another bumper will be an easy job here, if the guy picked up all the pieces perhaps you can get it welded?
