I big thanks to the members for their help and advice.
I had an emergency yesterday that entailed me having to take the car at 3.00am from worthing to Newcastle and back as the other cars were being used.
She ran perfectly with no problems at all. did 70-80 all the way there and back and she returned 53 mpg. wow. that pretty good for an old car.
she still needs a new alternator clutch and a cam belt change but will do that in warmer weather next month maybe.
thanks for all the help
Annie

Good news.
Seriously though, dont leave the alternator clutch too long - if the aux belt comes off, it can get tangled in the cambelt.

So, did you by Ady's load tray then?annie10 wrote: I had an emergency yesterday that entailed me having to take the car at 3.00am from worthing to Newcastle and back....

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

good point about entanglement.
will sort it out soon. i suppose i need a removal tool for the alternator pulley. i think pulley was £35 and tool was the same.

Re: She runs so well now. thank you
thanks. a lot cheaper than euro car parts. nedd to id the pulley now. the alternator is a valeo make but need to get it out to id it properly i think
Re: She runs so well now. thank you
just done the alternator pulley on mine tried a few places and all said the same ,there are 3 different ones so i had to remove the alternator to get the correct one, the one i had had to be the dearest of the three @ £46 but at least the motor factors where i got it fitted it for free so saved me the cost of buying a tool.
Re: She runs so well now. thank you
that a good idea. will see if i can get it fitted like that. save buying the tool.
