I can has 13amp Sockit with USB charger

Post by Welly »

This thing scares me a bit but realistically could it be any good?

The charging output is 1A but some people on the internetz say you need 2A for modern i-phones and sh*t?

How long do sockets usually last? 20 years or more? I can't imagine them USBs lasting that long, especially with a herd of kids constantly trying to hammer USBs into them upside-down... Stick with the plug-in jobbies, use either ones that came with whatever you're charging or from a reputable make.

Btw is anyone else getting confused with all these different chargers hanging about? I seem to have about 20, I really should remember to label them the moment they arrive

She: "What's that?"
Me: "That's a 13 amp socket, a proper socket that doesn't pull out the wall when you try to remove the plug. Look at it, you could hang a car off of that!"

Incidentally I've just washed the Pug, for today it has it's MOT :?

The ones that catch fire? :o

We seem to keep needed new i-phone 'leads' as the outer insulation splits, I don't know whether this in-wall charger would help reduce that although I suppose my Daughter would pull on the wire to remove it from the wall

Good luck wiv the MOT-type man!

The ones which you can see and can switch off and unplug.
Decent quality chargers shouldn't catch on fire, unlike the ones you're pondering putting INSIDE your walls

Mmm, I see what you mean, might be best to wait until the industry catches up a bit.

There was a bit on the news here about the adaptors that catch fire, it seemed to be extremely cheap eyephone adaptors via ebay, sourced from China. Yous gets whats yous pays for...

Pah, a mere formality considering the sort of crap they usually pass (and not necessarily from their bottoms). They did actually find a drastic and dangerous fault this time - one of the side light bulbs had blown  I went to change it but the guy said to leave it until I got home. Actually, I thought they might pick up on it still being on summer tyres but 20+ degrees today, they'd have to be mad.

Insurance was about 70 quid cheaper this year, something to do with joining the e-oo. Still 200 quid for 3rd party insewerants though :frown:

Plug in jobbies.

Put it this way, would you rather rely on the 1A or 3A fuse in the plug-in gubbins to disconnect you from Hinkley Point A/B/C, or leave it to the 32A MCB / 30A fuse / medium sized nail that's designed to turn off your ring main before the wiring melts?

Speaking of MOT's, mine's booked in for tomorrow. :supafrisk:
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Speaking of MOT's the Voxhorl Asstray is booked in for tomorrow too, sporting two front tyres rather deficient in tread depth :o ackchewlee when's a tyre-related fail? it is when you're on the wear markers? these are just over. Just realised we've had the Astra for 6 YEARS

Isn't it 1.6mm? I think the markers are about 1mm but that might vary from tyre to tire.

I forgot to mention: What a bluddy nice car my Pug is 8) I keep thinking I should sell it but it's only worth 2,500€ and every time I drive it I think "I'd certainly buy it for that!"

Best of luck with the MOT Welters, old chap.

Must remember to remove Chuck Berry's, 'No Particulate Place To Go' from the CD changer, lest it gives the game away. :supafrisk:

Well done, wouldn't expect anything else.

Astra not yet, going at 3pm, and half-expecting a fail on the tyres.

It passed with only* 3 x advisories; Tyres (dur) and crusty rear brake pipes "you should grease 'em up sir".

It should have an oil change, if I can be bothered.......... :supafrisk:
