PS3 or X Box 360

Post by ThePrisoner »

Not sure which one to buy.....

PS3 or X Box 360 ???????????

Always been a Playstation man but the new PS3 is well expensive, (although very nice looking and very powerful)

Who has an X Box 360 and what are they like?

If you have to ask, don't buy either!

Prices are sky high at the moment (especially the PS3 obviously) and there's not that much in the way of games. If there's nothing yanking at you to buy one for, buy booze instead. Better than having an expensive and unused bit of kit staring at you every time you sit in front of the telly!

Nintendo Wii for the win!

I've played the Xbox 360 and the Wii. The Wii wins in my opinion. Sheerly because you actualy get a physical workout playing it!

I would hold out for the ps3 as I believe that the blueray technology will beat the hddvd rivals and so this will save you having to buy a blueray player in the future :cheesy:

Wouldn't get one just yet though.

The 360 and ps3 cost the same if you ad the hd-dvd in the 360 price.

Games on the ps3 look awesome compared to the 360..

Got both to play with.

The 360 has better "backup" possibilities...

I love my Wii too.

Both consoles have there plus and minus points. I've had a 360 since xmas and soon after I updated the firmware and waaaaaahaaaay!

The PS3 has got the blu-ray drive built in, but I personally don't use my Xbox 360 to watch DVDs as I have a seperate player. I have thought about getting the HD-Drive, but I thought I would wait and see who wins the format war. There are some really amazing games only on the 360 like "Gears of War" and "Halo 3" (When it comes out). I have played Need for speed carbon on the PS3 and to tell you the truth I couldnt really see much difference in the graphics. I must say that I prefer the 360 controller over the PS3 one.

I don't know much about the online gameplay with the PS3, but the 360 is very good. With the headset you can talk to other people on your team and it's as clear as talking on the phone.

If you want to keep your originals secure and safe from getting scratched, then it's a good idea to look for a 360 with a Samsung or Hitachi drive. They are the ones that can be upgraded to play backups ;)

There are rumours flying around of an updated Xbox 360 with a 60GB hard disk and also HDMI output due out 3rd qtr of 2007 retailing at around £270.

There will be a 120GB black 360 with HDMI soon. Anyway I have a 360 and a Wii, best combo ever. Right now the 360 is the thing to get, better games, better software and all the bugs have been ironed out. The gfx power on both are roughtly the same, but the ps3 have a potentially better cpu. I say potentially because the assymetric layout of the cell makes it a nightmare to code on. Several major game developers including valve and ID have already stated the ps3's poor developer support.

So uhm. Get a 360. You'll love it :)

Thanks guys. I have always been a Playstation man and never gave the choices a though when the PS2 was released, it was straight down the shop and handed over my cash.

However now with Microsoft's 360 it appears more and more hardened playstation owners are moving over to the 360. I think most people who are buying the PS3 are buying it as they are fans of the brand rather then actually looking to see what it can do for them in the long run.

I too have always been a Playstation fan but with the larger range of games on 360 (which are also cheaper), a years head start on the market, and the huge difference in price I am now seriously looking at the X Box 360 as my main choice.

Never even considerd the Wii as Nintendo always get beaten in the hardware wars and their games are turd!

Yeah My Turn..... Now Listen UP

I've heard trash after trash being spoken about the greatness of the PS3.... Lets look at the facts to start with:

The Contender: PS3
BlueRay = 10 Year old Technology, relies on MPEG2 compression! 10 year old WTF
15 Months Over Due = Problems with the above technology stopped the launch twice !
Poor Developer Support = Lack of Games
Stock still available = People have been let down!
Looks like a sandwich toaster or better yet a new George Forman Grill

The Current Champ: X360
HD-DVD = A variant of MPEG4 compression
Sold out on day of release*
100's of games already available
Better Ergonomics
More stylish

I own a 360 and have done so since the new year, I own about 10 top title games and almost all of the accessories, yes I've spent a fortune on it! It doesn't dissapoint -- and I have beer when I want it! lol so I decided to check out the specs, and take a look at the late arrival of the PS3!!! First impressions: It's ok, graphically on the game I saw, its no better or worse than the 360, its on par with good HDR. Controller wise, well Sony sure did do a number on Nintendo and Microsoft for stealing ergonomic designs and technical capabilities.. Motion sensor ( wii ) and L + R Trigger buttons ( 360 ).

Another problem I have is that Sony are claiming FULL HD output @ 1080p.. for the uneducated Full HD output is 720p, 1080p is the industry standard for cinematography... thats right Hollywood film making not games consoles!! lmao

Anyway, the wii sucks also, its just a jumped up gamecube! with new wireless controller technology... the controllers are not actually that responsive and have a noticeable delay at speed ! But thats for another topic altogether...

The 360 will still be around when the PS3 is retired to the shelf like the betamax... Another Sony FLOP !
