I went to Kwik fit.

For an air-con regass.

It was booked for 9am then they were genuinely surprised when I turned up and asked if I could leave it with them.

There were at least 5 of them there, two other cars in, but only worked on mine on-and-off.

It took them an hour.

"We can't find any leaks, unfortunately".

They also checked your brake discs and declared they were perfectly safe and didn't need replacing?

I took my car to Kwikfit when we had that few months of 30degrees to get the Aircon gasses. In all fairness they got me straight in, put the car on the machine for an hour and I came out with fully operational air con!

I've also taken my Mothers Panda there a few times for servicing and MOTs and they've always been spot on!

I'm even going to book my car in for an MOT, Full Service, Brakefluid change and an Aircon regass on the 4th May!

Ultimately, I've come out with working air con, and they did check for leaks with a lamp, so I can't argue that they've delivered.

It's just that the customer service was a bit of a shock.
Although, frankly, given the sh*t that main dealers pull I really shouldn't have been surprised.

There's only one (well two) reasons for a/c failure; one is a leak and the other an electrical problem. I hope yours is ok.

I think they charge about £45.

I've booked mine in for...
Full Service (Oil, Oil filter, Fuel filter, Air filter, clean and adjust the brakes, balence all four wheels and a full inspection),
Brake fluid change,
Aircon regass,
MOT.
£200 with a 25% discount!

Speaking of Aircon regassing, the wife's focus isn't chilling properly (mainly because she doesn't listen when I tell her to make sure she uses it regularly  ). So, bearing in mind that it hasn't been used for ages, what are the changes of it being OK if I get it regassed?

The Aircon never worked on my Mondeo when I bought it which I put down to the previous owner never using it.
Took it to the Kwikfit just infront of your street, they gassed it and it's been superb ever since.

If they can't get it working then they don't charge!

"yeah, we just tick all those boxes"
You know those car supermarket adverts; "120 point safety inspection" it's all bollocks, the car gets a 'cursory' look over and a quick check of the tyre tread depth. A mates mate kinda bloke used to do this and they firstly don't get paid enough to care and secondly don't care anyway. Unless something's actually falling off or making a horrifying noise then the rest gets left for the Customer to find....

I'm sure they worked out that due to the numbers of new stock arriving that it wasn't actually possible to inspect them all 'properly'.

Remember that Company 'Yes Car Credit' that was all over the TV adverts? their Staff admited they never looked at any of the inspections and literally "ticked all the boxes" I think they did the inspections in a different room to the car
