DPF problem?

DPF problem?
I've never come across this problem before, but i'm sure some people on here have....
I have a customer with a Citroen Berlingo 1.6 HDi which is a delivery van doing both local drops and M62 daily motorway runs....
The "additive tank low" warning has appeared along with "possible blocked filter" warning...is it a case of filling up the additive tank and resetting the system or is the DPF blocked?
Any help or advice gratefully received.

Re: DPF problem?
Yeah if the additive has run out then it will have been unable to regen which is why the filter is more blocked than the ECU would like. If it's like the 406, you need to top up the tank* and then reset the additive level in PP2000/Lexia.
If it's been caught early enough then the subsequent regen should clear the filter - a good motorway blast will help!
* = There is more than one type of additive so make sure it's the right one (sorry if you already know this!)

Re: DPF problem?
+1 I've never actually reset the additive counters, but, (at least on a 406), you have to:
fill up the additive tank,
reset the counters,
add at least 10 litres of fuel, (I think this is to force an additive injection),
then reset the counters again.
The above may not be exactly right, but it's close and PP2000 should give you guidance.
The other fly in the ointment is the additive ecu maintains a calculation of how clogged it beieves the DPF is and triggers regens based on both differential pressure and distance since last regen. If it has a clean DPF it will regen on pressure or say every 800 km, but this reduces as the ecu tries to maximise the life of the DPF by making more and more frequent regens until it's happening every 100 km or less. (It's the residue from the additive that blocks the DPF, a successful regen removes all the soot).

Re: DPF problem?
I have a manual for the dv6 and it states that the additive causes the filter to clog and suggests the filter will only last a maximum of 75000 miles
Re: DPF problem?
Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated!
I forgot to mention...this van is only just 2 years old and has done 82,000 miles.

Re: DPF problem?
Sounds like it's gonna need a new filter. Have you changed one before?

I can see it ok and I'm not logged in.
Let's see you point that at your joy department

In my case it was bad so I used the pleasure washer to force water through.
