Loading a large post with photos.

Post by jasper5 »

I wrote up a how-to on the 407 cam belt job with photos and did it in sections saving the drafts....when I came to load it to the forum the photos were removed and the text was chopped off losing a good chunk of it.

Do I have write it all out in one go or is there a magic way of loading the drafts to the forum and keep all the data?

Took me ages to write this and now I have to start over  :frown:

Not really sure about this, so forgive me if I haven't got it right.....

Are you hosting the pictures elsewhere and just pasting the links into your narrative with the 'Img' function?
I've never had problems doing it this way, but possibly none of mine have as many pictures?

Oh no what a ball ache :frown:

I've had this before where I've written stuff and been thrown out (logged out) by the forum and I think it was due to the amount of time I'd spent creating a new thread but not actually submitting. Or something.

The draft function is not that clear I have to admit.

If I was you I'd create the thread and then just keep submitting 'edits' as you increase the size of it, that way you will be constantly uploading and saving the stuff as you go.

Yes, I was thrown out of the forum as well!

The draft function removes photos, but I put them back in ...on trying to post the finished article the forum cut out most of the text and all but one of the photos.

I'll have another go when I get time and patience.

Thanks guys :D

Alternatively get it all the text down on a word document and when you're happy copy and paste it. You may have to insert the pics manually but at least you won't lose anything and have to start again.

I quite often use word for similar tasks as it gives you the spell check function etc..

A PDF writer would do the same job but anyone wanting to download and edit the guide would need the write function as well.
