That would actually make a really cool car, I maintain the 405 handles way better than the 6 and the interior was somehow more cosy and nice. I remember the 405 was competing hard at the time with Chavaliers and Montego's  and the forthcoming Mondeo so they did a lot to temp buyers in (free air con was very rare then).

Looking again that there 1.9DT is listed at 92bhp - is that right? I think my 1.9 petrol had 110bhp then?

Yes, the mechanically controlled 1.9 TD did manage fractionally more power than the ecu controlled 406 version which has better bottom end torque and is more progressive. Needs to be to lug a '6 about

Look on the bright side, you can run it on veg. :supafrisk:

Mentioned the 405 to Mrs Her Indoors and all I can say is that it was met with utter disdain.

Happened across a gen-you-win Volvo Sport body kit today (in original boxes unused) for the S40 and for 150 sheets .... 90 miles away so will talk her into that instead........compromise and all that :cheesy:

"Can I buy another car dear?"
"which one?"

"What's that?"
"It's Italian designed, Italian built."
"Is it a Peugeot?"
"Yes."

as under the front bumper is not much space without butchering it wouldn't be better positioning larger intercooler there on 2.2 hdi ? with bonnet scoop and will make air travel shorter etc. how is it working with rain water drain?

True, but mine has higher mileage, GLX spec and a few issues.

The ebay one is a bit steep, I wouldn't pay more than £1895 for it, but thats the lowest mileage I have ever soon on a 406 estate - you pays your money you takes your choice.....
2003 2.2hdi estate - mine
1998 Volvo 940 auto estate - also mine
2019 Citroen C3 something - the wife's

After arriving home Friday night and testing the water over the weekend I concluded it was not worth the aggravation mentioning the 405 :(

In other news I happened across something I've been after for the Volvo for some time......time to switch tactics I think.
