I still have the DW10 engine and gearbox sitting about but no ECU. I wonder what suspension bits this guy has changed.
Yeah, I reckon the 90bhp version would be perfect for the 305, less to worry about too! Might be an idea? Get the it mapped to ~115bhp and it would be a match made in heaven I reckon!

ECU from a 306 and a custom wiring loom would be a piece of piss for you!

Either that or use a mechanical pump from the XUD?

It might actually be easier to work out the driveshafts with the 90's BE gearbox than the 110's ML, dunno about the spring rates but springs for the 1.9d would probably do the job as they're more-or-less the same block.

The 305 HDi looks very neat, looks like they've transferred all the electrics over, including the ecu, bsi and fuse panels

I remember last year when stripping the 406 i attempted to take out the full wiring loom, but i can remember it was a bit tricky to get it out around the bulkhead and i gave up on that idea, sort of regretting that now. Has anyone ever took the full loom out of a 406 in one piece.

Maybe Stealthe? Dunno :?

Maybe it would be better do do what Sam suggested and use a 1.9's fuel pump and injectors. There was someone that did that on here but I can't think of what to search for to find it :frown:

Im going to put the XUD into it, it keeps the car more original and it can still be insured for sensible money, plus its an XUD so it should be tough as nails as long as the coolant system is taken care of.

Myself and my cousin had the engine out of the old van in 2 hours, it came out very handily wiring loom and all, we put it up on the lift, disconnected the pipes, linkages etc, undid the subframe bolts and engine mount bolts with it lowed down and a pallet under the engine, lifted the car back up and had all the important stuff deposited on the pallet, a good coating with foamy degreaser and a blast with the power hose has the engine looking like this:

The seal that goes below the throttle arm on the fuel pump needs to be replaced as its leaking diesel can these be bought separately, this is a bosch pump, it also needs a pipe to replace the rusty coolant pipe near the crankshaft pulley.

Not much has happened with the 305, I've ordered parts to service the engine and just waiting for them to arrive, but my cousin arrived home today with this:

it might be old but it still attracts the birds:
Image
there is only 70,000 on the engine, under the bonnet the engine bay is in great shape, its a good running engine even with a lucas fuel pump:

Buying 305s seems to be contagious, he ended up buying this from the man where the other one for the donor engine came from, he plans to restore this in the same way as mine, although it might take a bit more welding to get right so far we have removed the bonnet, drivers door, and rear window. They all seem to go in the corner of the tailgate mine included which causes leaks into the cabin, here is the tailgate of the van:

*ring ring*

"Hello Farmerpug 305 rentals how can we help?"

"I need a B-registered 305 estate, preferably one which used to be petrol powered but has since been converted to old-skool diesel power? and in faded Red. and 5-doors"

*types on keyboard*

"Yes Sir I have one here, £60.00 per day, can I take the long Card Number when you're ready".

Its not as faded as it used to be, i did at least give it a wax and polish:

Its still available with petrol power for a limited time only, relive the joys of carburetted engines with pinking, cutting out at junctions and a plethora of other unusual occurrences all of which can be labelled as character.
The high level air intake is common on them all even the petrol, its handy to know its this high when driving through deep water.
