Insurance have agreed total loss !!!

Post by Sagwala »

So the Insurance have written have the new 2.2, thanks to some anonymous ignorant so and so.

They are calling on Friday to discuss a settlement figure, less salvage, cos obviously I am keeping it.

They have asked me to do some research myself so if I am not happy with the figure I can give evidence as to what it should be. trouble is I am struggling to find any adverts of 53 2.2 SE sat nav estates to give an idea.

Any thoughts? 153k on clock. I was hoping for a figure around the 1250 to 1500 mark ideally.

Also can anyone point me in the right direction of a decent body repair person within the Midlands ( pound notes ) :D

Last time I looked Parkers had them at 1200 up to 2500 for a good one with low mileage.
What did you give as a purchase price?

Well. Obviously the purchase price is immaterial to the valuation, but for the record £500 :supafrisk:

Plenty of 110's on auto trader with similar age and mileage in the £1200 to £1600 range!

As a buyer some of the garages on there are taking the piss for cars that are now nearly teenagers but as an insurance claimant I'd ask for £1500 and settle for £1200 :cheesy:

Only down side for you is the potential hit on your no-claims if you're not protected

I've lost count of the amount of times I've avoided a bell end cutting me up only to wish I hadn't and got my already dented panels fixed on their insurance!!! Doesn't happen so much with the 2.2 as they can't keep up to cut me up in the first place :supafrisk:

totally agree Gumby!

Thankfully not only is my NCB protected but because of the relatively low value of the car, I took the option of insuring my excess, so will get the full amount offered less salvage! :cheesy:

Insurance valued at £1300 which means less salvage I get a grand and the car. Pleased with that.

A good repair is gonna cost about three hundred, which will also take care of a few other dinks, so I,m two hundred quid up and a car that I love in near mint condition again, get in :cheesy:

I would now check with your insurer as it is common practice that after paying for a write-off, insurance is cancelled, (usually with no rebate of any kind, but that's insurers for you!) As to the benefits or otherwise of protected ncb, my friend found he had to pay three times his normal premium as they had loaded him after a claim. Personally, I do not have protection and when I was initially accused of being 100% to blame for a collision, I lost two years ncb. This was reinstated after I proved the other driver was 100% at fault.
