I fitted the Connects2 unit yesterday, managed to put the wires behind the centre console, under the ashtray and put the box under the gaiter with the jack part poking up by the handbrake lever. I only had to remove the stereo as my girly hands and un-ginger-like patience helped a lot....
This means the box is easily accessed if required, and the Mp3 player sits in the cup-holder ( the ones you can't put a cup in..!! ) so passengers in the back seats can plug there Mp3 in and use it too....

Image

Nice and neat, if I like the connects2 and I can get along with it then I may upgrade to a USB one at a later date.

Auxiliary belts and pulleys booked in for Monday 7th.

The Connects2 works fine - the sound is okay and to be fair I am not a music connoisseur. If I can listen to what I want, when I want in decent enough sound then thats fine by me.

Latest news - I actually tried to do something to the new car and it ruddy well worked....

Thanks to Steve's excellent KB guide - I now have cruise control in the GLX :cheesy: the spare switch was already there :cheesy: :cheesy: and all the bits I needed came from the donor Exec so free too :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: but the clip that holds the switch to the pedal put up quite a fight

Took it for a spin and it works a treat.

Also, last week I drove to Totton to meet up with James ( Ratty_Black ) from the 'hair dresser' club and bought a freshly oiled and ready to fit K+N filter. I didn't really think it would make a big improvement and got it really for longevity. I am please to confirm it DOES make a difference and the car has a bit more of a spark to it. This could of course be the placebo effect but I like it a lot...

Next on the list is an IQ93 map from EcuEdit.....

Thanks to Gumby for the part - I've been after a set for a while now..... :cheesy: 8)

As an added bonus - I thing the oil temp gauge works without having to use PP2000.... but I may need to check the speedo as I have gained an extra 20mph top speed.....??

You seem to have gained half a tank of fuel too - that's amazing! 8)

Looks really good. I guess the 4-dial layouts have the 140 mph speedo. Both of my 2.2's had 160 mph scales on the original black clocks.

Looks like speedo scales are different. Hmm.. but I had done the same upgrade in my 406. One of the best ones! And pretty much the only one.

Glad you like the clocks, I think they look much nicer than the black ones.
How did you correct the mileage in the end?

Oh you have a whole new set as opposed to the background only. I think if the mileage on the replacement one is lower, it will match that of the BSI, correct?

Correct, I did double check the mileage was lower than mine before fitting it.
I would never by clocks/dials without photographic evidence, as if you fit a set from a higher mileage car then the clocks change the bsi to higher mileage too....
There is a company down the road from me that will wind the mileage back for you for £30, as long as they know the ' before and after' miles...

The interior is next on the list, once I un-jam the donor cars passenger door..

The oil temp dial doesn't work without PP2000.....

The gauge works when activated using the actuators function, but you need to 'enable' the oil temp sensor for it to work when driving.

I also swapped the sun visors with the lights in from the exec, these are plug and play - takes 5 mins 8)

Nope, just plug them in.... :cheesy:

You need to prise out the centre light in the switch assembly with a tiny screwdriver to reveal 2 torx screws ( don't force it like I did... ) and under the switch assembly are two red connectors - one for each side. Remove the old visor and feed the wire from the exec visors though the lining ( plenty of space ) and plug them in, simples..
