Still more than 1 x 12 months though. Pay your utilities by DD and you get a discount, pay your tax by DD and get charged for the privilege, rip off!

Yep, my choices are £205/12 months, £112.50/6 months - that's 9.8% extra.grasmere59 wrote:I was led to believe you pay 5% more by DD which I think is less than they charge you at the moment for 2 x 6 months?

I guess the 'justification' is that by paying 12 months in advance you're giving them, (us?), an interest free loan for up to 11 months.DaiRees wrote:Still more than 1 x 12 months though. Re: The big road tax rip off.
Question: Anyone who Taxes their car before 01 Octember (like what I did) and currently displays ye olde Tax discette can we actually remove it from the car as of 01 Oct? I guess we can?
I also think these online companies doing reproduction/period Tax discs will do a raring trade now in gifts etc.

I've got her indoors' Astra to Tax at the same time, it'll be a sad day with a shed-tear, a heavy heart and a f*cking big whole in my Wallet.DaiRees wrote:I'm going to find it a bit weird come the end of the month when the wife's tax expires, take the old disc out and.... well that's it!
You know how some enthusiastic owners keep all the expired Tax Discs in a folder ready to wow prospective buyers when they come to sell? well now the collection means f*ck all really? just a load of round-shaped papers

I'm one of them 'owners'. I'm hoping we still get an email or something to verify the tax we bought. I can print the email out and add it to the service history then!Welly wrote:You know how some enthusiastic owners keep all the expired Tax Discs in a folder ready to wow prospective buyers when they come to sell? well now the collection means f*ck all really? just a load of round-shaped papersDaiRees wrote:I'm going to find it a bit weird come the end of the month when the wife's tax expires, take the old disc out and.... well that's it!

Re: The big road tax rip off.
Part of paying the regular road Tax was actually receiving something in return for the payment in the form of a Tax Disc to display and also the reassurance that the car IS now taxed.
I think under the new scheme we should at least receive a novelty sticker or something
