Accelerator Antipollution Problem

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Accelerator Antipollution Problem

Post by peugeot30v6 »

So doing what I normally do I got into the car and by mistake I pressed the accelerator pedal down when the car was off, I did not think anything of it at the time but when I started it the Antipollution Fault came on, I then realised that when I pushed the accelerator pedal down it caused the problem. Would a Throttle Position Sensor cause the problem?

Antipollution fault is a generic error message and could mean anything. The only way to know for certain is to get the faults read.

A dodgy TPS does cause antipollution fault. My 406 ate them. Dismantling them, cleaning them, and putting some fresh grease in fixed them. They felt grainy to turn before cleaning but smooth afterwards.

If you've taken up too much slack on the cable adjuster then you get antipollution fault, usually when you take your foot off the throttle quickly, e.g., to brake.

I remember reading something about pressing the throttle to re-calibrate the sensor, although I have a feeling this is an urban myth.

Just loosened some slack on the throttle cable and started it up, still the same. Then I tried pressing the throttle to recalibrate and it worked, I am not sure how long for though

You proabably inadvertently 'calibrated' it incorrectly by accident, the first time. May never happen again, don't worry unless it does.

'Antipollution Fault', just means any engine ecu related fault condition. (Another triumph of marketing over common sense).

You really need to get it diagnosed with PP2000 to get find out what it's unhappy about.
