Headtorches
Does anyone on here use a head torch when working on their cars, i bought one about 6 months ago and it is a very handy bit of kit, having two hands free and a good bit of light is unbelievably handy when sitting under a car.
The first head torch was one bought from my local motor factors, it is a Salari; rechargable with a CREE LED, its quite bright, but can go dim when its getting low on power, so i bought another torch to use when the first one is charging:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251288552540? ... EBIDX%3AIT
Its another brandless device, but it is very bright, it has 2 batteries instead of the one the other torch uses, the original batteries dont last very long but a pair of decent panasonic batteries seems to have cured that problem.

I bought a similar one about 4 years ago, for £6 on eBay. I still have it - its as bright a hell ( 600 lumes ) and I use it for working on the car, taking the bins out, getting firewood for the burner etc etc.
It also takes 2 AA batteries, which seem to last forever and I am more than happy with it.
This is much the same but slightly newer.

Best torch ive found so far is made by 'snapon'
ifound the thing by accident, one of the vans that parks in my yard ..was lit up all underneath for 3 nights,
one night ihad a nosey why and there it was stuck on the chassis,
a M.o.t tester must of left it there,
it lasted a full month with out going flat..not sure how much they are but there brilliant,

I'm on my second Petzl Tikka (I gave the first one to a mate), it takes 3 AAAs but I suspect more modern ones are rechargable as it's at least 10 years old. With a fresh set of batteries it's very bright and it's quite small, so not much chance of knocking it off on anything like the el cheapo one I got from Lidl. I'm not sure of these ones with a battery pack on the back, I can imagine them getting knocked off on everything you go near.
They are indeed very useful, leaving both hands free. I can thoroughly recommend a headlamp to anyone who does anything other than watch telly.

Re: Headtorches
The headtorches normally have the battery pack placed on the back of your head, its not normally a problem, unless your under the car with your head on the ground then its bleeding uncomfortable having the battery pack supporting your head.
Re: Headtorches
I must admit I have been impressed with some of the headlamps some of my friends use. Having said that, they don't compete with the underfloor lighting we had in the last garage I worked in.

I use this- http://www.energizer.com/flashlights-li ... light.aspx its been very good as you can angle the bulbs when it's on your noggin. Battery's last ages too.
I bought it from Wilkinsons ages ago so it's lasted quite well up to now.
This is also very very useful http://www.wilko.com/jml/jml-flexi-torc ... vt/0329041
