Well that looks a bit nice

Engine bay looks quite familiar. Did you say it's a 140?
Is that a gas strut holding the bonnet open. I always think the absence of gas strut on the 407 is a bit cheepo.
I see the boot mechanism is like on the 406 saloon and it's been used to create a wider opening.

Looks like the cruise and radio have moved off the COM2000 small paddles and onto the steering wheel.
Are the three dials at the top of the instrumet cluster water temp, fuel, and oil temp? (If so I'm glad to see that oil temp is still there.)

The 'transmission tunnel' looks tall. Is that that because that is the fashoion on german cars?

What's underneath the MFD? I assumed it was a cubby hole, but it looks like it's got some sort of screen in it.

Glad to see climate control has it's own display. Putting it on the MFD in the 407 was a silly idea.

The dash looks quite high up. Does it feel like you're peeping out over it?

Looks to be more room in the back.

Current: 407 2.2 HDi 170 & C6 2.7 HDi.
Former: 406 1.9 TD; 406 HDi 90; 407 2.2 160; 307cc 180; 508 HDi 140.

Yes, engine is a 140 and yes, there is a gas strut holding the bonnet up.

The boot is a really good size with a full size alloy spare wheel in there.

Yes all three dials are as you say.

Don't know why the tunnel is high up.

Underneath the MFD is another display for the parking sensors...vertical red lines light up....actually, I believe there is a piece of trim missing there as the display just has foam around it...I'll be having words on monday!

Lots of room in the back...same centre arm rest/cup holders/picnic thing as the 407.

Dash is fine...the view from the driver's seat is better than the 407 as the front end is shorter....the dash is smaller from the windscreen to the displays.
Lots of controls on the steering wheel, plus a much better climate control system with easy to use controls.

Engine is powerful, more so than the 136 in the 407.

Handling is superb.

I like that a lot, very nice interior too; I can see some interior styling cues from BMW in there actually.

Do you think the handling is more advanced than the 407? if so it must be great. I hope you enjoy the car.

Handling is superb...my wife drove 70,000 miles in the 407 and rates the 508 very highly...I'm taking it for a run into Yorkshire tomorrow on the M62, I'll be able to tell how the car is then.

Thanks :cheesy:

That be an aftermarket display (and by extension sensors)

Wowsers that automobile would save me £90.00 per month in Pez, well dizzle.....

It might* not be so frugal on my daily though, bet it'd still do 50 mpg with me at the helm.
