Joeseph (my cousin) has a probelm with his renault traffic, it quit last week and wouldnt start again, and we pulled it into the shed at the weekend the fault code reader brought up a problem with the fuel pressure regulator, and removing this part showed the regulator had bits of dirt on it some of the dirt was shiny and gold cloured, while it was off i pumped the hand primer and joe held a tray under the hole in the fuel pump the diesel which came out had quite a lot of these gold coloured presumably brass filings.
If the fuel pump has packed up thats unfortunate but ok, its a pain to get at but he would be able to do that ok, but do you know if the traffics pump needs to be coded into the engine, and what is the likelihood of these filings going further on to the injectors.

it will be a coded pump..if it is a modern traffic..brother to the vauxhall Mo
you can get round the coding on them with some modification.

Might be easier just to take the full van here.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tShUtfIwFZo
and then replace it with a transit/' sprinter.

Re: Renault Traffic
The Renault/Nissan/Vaxhaull is a good van, they are probably the best vans for keeping rust away, they just have a few expensive problems, early ones have bad gearboxes, then some have injectors which stick in the head, and all of them have terrible access. But when its driving and is well looked after its the most car like van to drive you sit in it rather than on it.
The sprinter and Transit might be mechanically good but they are very rusty. Is there a van that doesnt rust and has a good engine.
He should get it sold and hurry up with his 305, an XUD wont give any problems with its fuel pump.

^ depends who the previous owner/s was a s'pose..
Most van's get abused..dents and chipped paintwork turns to rust,
The old renaults seem more reliable.. the old renault thing zac has on emerdale farm never fails to start.
Renault didnt mix well with vauxhall,
