Knowing Fords, it'll work flawlessly up until the 90k mark and then die. While 406's seem to be the other way around

Smells great
I love the new car smell too!
. They've had a very slight facelift recently but I'm struggling to spot any differences apart from the indicators in the mirrors and the better stereo, oh and some different badges!

The 1.6L you drove would have been the standard 100BHP 16V lump. This has a 115BHP VVT version, it's pretty nippyCaptain Jack wrote:Yep looks the same as the one from work... Oh well... Nice to have a Sony unit anyway

You know, I think your onto something there, if my last 2.1TD was anything to go by. It definitely got better with age.Captain Jack wrote: it'll work flawlessly up until the 90k mark and then die. While 406's seem to be the other way around

I think thats a cracking car Dai, with a fine looking quality interior. And your right the mileage won't be an issue.
Sure, maybe there are other cars that will out-do a Ford in the monster mileage stakes but who cares? The trick with motoring these days I am convinced is to run a low mileage car and move it on before you get to 40,000 miles.
The other reason is that I don't think 'New' cars will do the same mileages as the old D8's of the world. New cars are very complicated, but are cheap enough to buy, run, then throw away in effect.
I've seen 18 month old Focuses for £8500.00 still under warrenty with 12000 miles. You could run one of these for 2 years and still get £7000.00 for it because they are popular. And you would only need 1 basic service a year costing about £80.00, no MOT's or breakdowns to worry about.
